We are BACK, cousins! Long time no see. In this jam-packed episode of Urban Whispers, me (LaCie Knight) and my @Sloane_Bueller finally got back together to chop it up after a wild month.

We're getting into the inaugural Chocolate City Lit Fest in DC and Pedals & Prose Fest in St. Louis, because girl, festival season is HERE. We're spilling all the tea on the event logistics, the app line-jumping situation (yes, I was the one accidentally breaking the line, no I am not sorry), and why the Midwest desperately needs more Black romance love. I'm also telling y'all about taking LJ to see Bruno Mars for her 15th birthday and Sloane is recapping the Boyz II Men tour stop where Spectacular came down to the floor in her section and almost ended somebody's marriage.

Then we're getting into our recent reads and y'all, we read a LOT. Mel Dahl's "Bread"is single dad romance done right (because y'all already know how I feel about a single dad romance), KC Mills' "Love Me or Leave Me Alone", Endiya Carter's Danger series, and one absolutely unhinged read where a whole stalker was hiding under the bed the entire time. I cannot make this up.

We're also reacting to Talia Cadet's micro-tropes trend on TikTok and getting into our personal favorites: secret property purchases, instant karma that does NOT include a body count, the integrated friend group, and yes, the toxic "drag you out of the club" moment we will defend until the wheels fall off.

And before we go, I'm putting y'all onto "Where Secrets Find Solace" by Kimberly Brown, the book I just finished that had me in my feelings, plus why her whole catalog deserves a spot on your TBR.

Grab a drink and pull up. 🍹✨

It’s 2026 and the Urban Whispers crew is back. LaCie Knight, Sloane, and Morgs kick off the year talking New Year energy (quiet, intentional, and less reactive… even with Aries tendencies), plus the real-life reset that comes with stepping away from the chaos and choosing peace over being “right.”

Then we slide into book talk the way we always do: Kindle vs physical books, owning digital books vs “licenses,” and why sometimes you need a break from your phone even if you’re still watching TV.

We also get into what we’re reading, what we’re not finishing (because yes, we support a good DNF), and our latest Spin the Wheel picks: slow burn struggles, sports romance wins, and a trauma-heavy read that might need a palate cleanser. Plus we put y’all on to the KC Queens series by Aubrey J, and break down why Zoe is THAT character and why her story needs to come next.

And finally, we officially launch the Urban Whispers StoryGraph Reading Challenge: 12 prompts, 3 bonus prompts, and enough options to keep you reading all year without it feeling like homework.

New episodes drop every two weeks. Follow us on social, join the challenge, and hit us up with your picks and DNFs.

Bonnets on. Muumuus activated. This episode of Urban Whispers leans fully into end-of-year comfort and conversation. LaCie sits down with Morgan and Sloane for a relaxed, at-home style discussion about books, urban fiction, and what reading looks like when you’re no longer trying to perform for the moment or the algorithm.

They talk about reading slumps, mood reading, and why certain stories feel easier to pick up when life is quieting down. The conversation moves through urban romance, character authenticity, and the difference between reading for enjoyment versus reading out of obligation. Along the way, there’s plenty of side talk, laughter, and honest reflection about creative energy, rest, and giving yourself permission to slow down.

Rooted in Black storytelling and real reader experience, this episode captures what it feels like to wind the year down without forcing closure or productivity. It’s book talk the comfortable way. No pressure. No polish. Just real conversation, familiar voices, and a vibe that feels like home.

Urban Whispers is a book podcast centered on urban fiction, romance novels, and storytelling rooted in Black culture and community.
This episode explores urban fiction, Black romance, and contemporary book culture through honest conversation and lived reader experience.

Merry Crankmus from Urban Whispers. LaCie is joined by Morgan and Sloane for a Christmas episode that blends go-go energy, urban fiction, and real conversation the way only this trio can. The talk moves from books and romance to creative mood shifts and how the holidays change the way stories hit.

They get into what they’re reading, how characters land when life is loud, and why urban romance feels different when it’s rooted in culture, friendship, and honesty. It’s warm, funny, and grounded in Black storytelling, with side talk and laughter that feels like a holiday link-up rather than a formal recording. Pull up, press play, and vibe.

Urban Whispers is back for Season 2, and this time LaCie Knight isn’t alone. Meet the new trio: LaCie, Morgan, and Sloane: three Black women, three storytellers, and three completely different personalities who somehow blend into one wild, honest, creative space.

In this episode, we reintroduce the show, catch up on life, and talk about what it means to write stories that hold our experiences as Black women — the softness, the grit, the mess, and the magic. LaCie gives a behind-the-scenes look at her second novel, Echoes of Us, including the early sparks between Skylar and Zaire and how Rogue Knight’s obsession shifts the whole narrative. We talk character creation, plot energy, world-building, and what’s coming next.

It’s candid. It’s thoughtful. It’s intimate.
Welcome to the trio era.
