Tom Long was a former employee of the city of Melbourne Florida who was let go after having a string of injuries to his foot after an initial misdiagnosis. He spent multiple years as a string of doctors passed his case around to figure out the issues forming around his foot.

After multiple surgeries, losing his job, and his wife leaving him Tom had a major decision to make. He concluded alongside a doctor that the only way to get his life back was amputating his foot off.

Vova Kuzmenko is a former sniper in the Ukrainian Military who lost his leg due to a wound suffered in the Russia Ukraine war still going on to this day. We hear the story of how he was injured and the story of how Vova clung on to life on the battlefield after suffering a bullet wound to his upper leg which after a heroic recovery resulted in an amputation.

Vova fought with the Ukrainian army for two years prior to being injured in battle. He originally had no interest in joining the army until the conflict with Russia began.
