Also just the day before this recording the Texas Supreme court Justices hear oral arguments from
DSHS and Plaintiff SKYE Marketing case or Hometown Hero's case to consume federally legal hemp products.

A case that was filed 5 years ago by Maguire and Sergi for Hometown and Skye.

Amidst all this the Federally side is looking at a DEA possible rescheduling of Marijuana while; Now, Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Rand Paul (R-KY) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) have filed new legislation that would push that timeline back by another two years, giving hemp interests additional time to make their case that the policy would significantly harm the industry that was legalized during Trump’s first term under the 2018 Farm Bill.

Williams is a medical cannabis advocate. He once stated his "personal goal is to elevate the legitimacy of cannabis as a medicine and the respect of medical professionals for cannabis users.

Williams has admitted being very shy and was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, borderline
personality disorder, and avoidant personality disorder with which he struggled to cope during his
football career. Williams was treated with therapy and medication. Williams was briefly
a spokesperson for the drug Paxil as treatment. He worked with the drug company GlaxoSmithKline
to educate the public about the disorder. Williams later quit using Paxil and said that cannabis
was a much better form of treatment.

Jay Maguire, executive director of THF said, “the Hemp Growers’ email has a lot of consumers and industry folks confused and unduly concerned. Here are the facts: while there are those certain legislators who want Texas to adopt a prohibitionist stance on cannabinoids, in 2021 the Texas Legislature chose not to act on Delta 8 or any other cannabinoid isomers because there was no consensus to criminalize these beneficial products. It’s also true the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is on record with their bureaucratic viewpoint, which exhibits the same kind of government overreach that landed them on the losing end of one hemp-related court case already. We have not seen any indication that prosecutors are relying on DSHS to invent new felonies to prosecute. We’re not privy to the circumstances of the one arrest the email cited, but if customers or retailers were being arrested en masse, we’d know about it. They aren’t, because as our attorneys say, our products aren’t illegal.”

In addition, a total of 36 states, District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands have approved comprehensive, publicly available medical marijuana/cannabis programs.

Texans are hoping that this current 87 Legislature at the very least expands on its current medical marijuana.

On September 17, 2020, Travis County Judge Lora Livingston ruled on a request for temporary injunction in a lawsuit filed by manufacturers and retailers of smokable hemp products in Texas. The injunction sought to prevent the State from enforcing its new regulations banning the manufacture, processing, distribution, and retail sale of hemp for smoking. The temporary injunction was partially granted, in that smokable hemp product businesses may carry on without facing penalties or fines under the status quo as it existed prior to the August 2nd effective date of the new rule – at least until the final trial on the merits set for February 1, 2021.
