Global Innovation Adoption

In my Innovation class, one week left, I found out that propagation of innovation across geographies is much more difficult than most organizations imagine. 

• Simple innovations like boiling water to prevent water-borne disease have not been adopted due to cultural bias. 
• Adoption of Smart Apps in the 2000s
• Cloud technology adoption in different countries

Strategies to overcome barriers and challenges include:

• Building community of practices
• Education both codified and Tacit (had to look that one up)
• Investment in skill set and R&D
• Extending Social Groups through Social networking

Hoshin Kanri Matrix What?!?!

I read my required reading early in the week. Then started working on the assignments on Friday night. Come Sunday night 3 hours before the assignment is due If found a little thing called a Hoshin Kanri Matrix that I had to do. 

None of the reading talked about Hoshin Kanri, It was just a little item in a long paragraph of items describing the assignment. How could I have missed it? I read about it and filled it out. This is what I found.

• Project Management Research loves to take the same data and look at in a hundred different ways.
• 80% of all projects do not come in on time and on budget.
• People create research projects trying to solve this problem.
• No one has solved the problem. But they can tell you there is a problem in several different ways.
• This validates that Agile methods are best. SCRUM all the way.

What I learned

• Don't put things off. 
• Review all of the assignments early in the week.
• Create a task for each deliverable
• It is still going to take 1 hour per page of writing
• Study earlier in the week.

• Looked at my first class syllabus, assignments are due weekly, lectures and then research papers are due weekly. 
• Typically 5-10 pages of writing including PowerPoint presentations.
• Lots of reading and listening. Approximately 15 papers a week.

APA Format

• Writing assignment are all in the APA format.​
• Had to learn what that meant.​
• Found a Word template that had it all set up for me.​
• Still have to learn the proper way to quote, tables, diagrams, etc…​

First Assignment DevOps Topic

• Do basic research on a technology subject you want.​
• Basically learn how to use the library​
• How to do research​
• How to cite others research​
• How to write a scholarly paper​
• How to weed through 20 research sources.​

What I learned

• Start your research​
• Read over the assignment again​
• Start your research over again​
• Put all of your research papers in an online folder. OneDrive​
• Use the Word APA Template​
• Drop all of your citations in the APA Template before you start writing​
• Grammatically is your friend, after you get your thoughts down on the paper.​
• Use the Grammatically plagiarism checker.​
• Present tense, past tense, and present perfect tense (have learned)​
