The Field: A Dojo of Sound

The Field is a portable pause for people who have forgotten how to stop.

Part podcast, part meditation space, part ongoing conversation, The Field is an experiment in what happens when thoughtful dialogue is placed inside a carefully designed auditory environment. Through immersive binaural soundscapes, authentic voice messages, and the exploration of ideas that matter, we practice learning out loud. Different minds meet, perspectives unfold, and meaning emerges.

At the heart of this project is the concept of a dojo of sound.

Traditionally, a dojo is a place of practice—not a place where one arrives as an expert, but a place where people gather to develop awareness, discipline, and skill over time. The dojo of sound is an auditory version of that idea: a carefully crafted listening environment designed to support reflection, contemplation, curiosity, and personal growth.

The soundscapes throughout The Field incorporate binaural beats, which are created when slightly different frequencies are presented to each ear through headphones. The brain perceives the difference between these frequencies as a rhythmic pulse. While research on binaural beats continues to evolve, many listeners report that they help create conditions conducive to relaxation, focused attention, meditation, creative thinking, and improved sleep. The sound design of The Field draws upon these principles to create an atmosphere that may, over time, help reduce symptoms associated with stress, anxiety, mental fatigue, and distraction while supporting focus, self-awareness, and emotional regulation.

The goal is not to diagnose, treat, or cure. Rather, it is to create conditions that invite reflection.

Most episodes are built from voice messages exchanged between friends, colleagues, seekers, creators, therapists, philosophers, scientists, mystics, and everyday people wrestling with life’s biggest questions. These conversations are intentionally left conversational and exploratory. Rather than presenting certainty, they model curiosity. Rather than delivering answers, they invite participation.

This is where the second meaning of the title emerges.

The Field refers to the shared space that appears whenever people gather around common values, questions, and aspirations. It is the invisible relational space between individuals where ideas cross-pollinate, insights emerge, and understanding deepens. Some may think of it as community. Others may think of it as collective intelligence, group consciousness, dialogue, or simply friendship. Whatever language you prefer, The Field is interested in what happens when human beings come together to explore reality with openness, humility, and wonder.

Whether you participate as a contributor or a listener, you become part of that field.

So put on your headphones. Take a breath. Slow down for a while. Let the sounds settle around you and the conversations settle within you. Join us in the ongoing experiment of neuroconvergence, shared inquiry, and conscious reflection.

Welcome to The Field.

What happens when imagination becomes a doorway into a different way of seeing yourself?

In this episode of The Field: A Dojo of Sound, Quad—Glenn’s imaginary companion from the original Bathing with God—reaches out to Solivia, a newly imagined expression of one person’s deeper values, self-trust, compassion, courage, boundaries, and presence.

What begins as a playful conversation between two “imaginary” beings becomes an exploration of something very human: the stories our minds create, the intelligence of the nervous system, the fear that pulls us away from the present, and the possibility that the person we are trying so hard to become may already be present underneath the noise.

This is an experiment in imagination, perspective, and listening inward—not to find a perfect or authoritative Higher Self, but to become curious about what new choices might become available when we give another part of ourselves a voice.

You can purchase a paperback copy of Bathing With God through Amazon.

In "A Polyvagal Roadmap of Emotions," we explore the hidden architecture of human behavior by bridging the autonomic nervous system with the highest levels of human consciousness. This binaural meditation uses a 6 Hz theta beat to physically engage your calming vagus nerve. We synthesize Polyvagal Theory and David Hawkins' Map of Consciousness, revealing how subjective emotions are actually physical "nervous system mocktails" driven by our underlying biology. Discover how to use neuroplasticity and mindful pauses to shift out of exhausting, reactive survival states and build new neural pathways toward connection, effortless power, and profound peace.

What if empathy is more than an emotion—what if it's a habit the nervous system can practice? In this immersive Dojo of Sound meditation, binaural theta tones provide a spacious backdrop as you eavesdrop on a conversation exploring neuroplasticity, myelin, cooperation, consciousness, and the layered nature of reality. Rather than asking you to believe anything, this meditation invites curiosity, self-observation, and gentle experimentation. From molecules to minds, from relationships to culture, discover how repeated experiences shape who we become—and how one small pause, one degree more empathy, and one moment of wonder may begin quietly rewiring your world.

Designed not only to explore these ideas but to put them into practice, this meditation gently exercises empathy, compassionate self-awareness, and mindful presence. Within the Field, listeners are invited to cultivate greater consciousness through curiosity, kindness, and repeated attention, allowing new pathways of understanding to emerge through direct experience rather than belief.

In this binaural meditation, we explore a powerful self-portrait of a nervous system shaped by both neurodivergence and trauma. Through reflections on ADHD, CPTSD, rejection sensitivity, masking, people-pleasing, identity, curiosity, and emotional safety, you'll be invited to cultivate deeper compassion for yourself and others. This meditation is not about fixing what is broken, but understanding the patterns that shaped you and discovering what helps your mind, body, and heart feel safe enough to thrive.

A listener reaches out after an unexpected conversation with a former bishop leaves her shaken, tearful, and wondering why old wounds still hurt. In this episode, we explore religious trauma through the lenses of Samskara, Polyvagal Theory, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Why does the body react long after the mind has moved on? What happens when old emotional grooves are triggered? And how can we cultivate peace, boundaries, and self-trust without needing to prove our experience to anyone?
