3. Mark from Moreno Valley, CA. I went and saw the movie Oppenheimer the second day it opened, not knowing of the sex scenes. In a recent article from Denison Forum, it was stated that this movie, because of these scenes, caused millions of Americans to commit Adultery based on Matthew 5:28. I remember thinking when these scenes were shown, "why did they have to put this in the movie"? Just wondering what Pastor Matt's opinion is on this?

4. Kimberly from Phelan, CA. I've been having a difficult time answering this question: "Is it sinful to support nudity or to see nudity.” It has been so normalized in today's society and it personally bothers me, but with some of my Christian friends it’s normal to see. I understand that it doesn’t say nudity is a sin in the Bible. However, I also think the action leading up to the nudity or the purpose behind it can make it sinful. An example would be viewing a scene in a movie where a woman is topless, taking a shower, topless in a bar, or a nude man in a random scene, etc. I believe that nudity is a sin if it does not have a godly purpose behind it, which is hardly ever seen in movies or tv shows. Like when God told Isaiah to preach in his nakedness to the people, that is okay because God commanded him to. Can you see people naked and it not be sexual on a screen or off?

5. Anonymous from Loma Linda, CA. Is pedophilia as prevalent as the (typically conservative) media is making it seem in Hollywood?

We’re living with an uncertain economy right now with experts saying that we are entering into a recession…What advice would you give to young people who are just starting to figure out their careers and finances during economic times like this?

Episode Questions:

Anonymous, Moreno Valley: On your last Debrief, you brought up a couple that wanted a divorce, and you basically said the husband needed to man up and put in the work to save his marriage and family. My question is, what do you say to a couple when one of the spouses still wants to leave the marriage even after they’ve put in the work to heal it? Turning around broken relationships doesn’t seem as just “putting in the work.”

Mindie, Menifee: “I've read Exodus many times; I'm just now recognizing that God foretold of their slavery to Abraham back in Genesis 15. As I'm reading through Exodus, chapter 1, I can't help but think of the moms and dads to little boys that were not Moses' parents. How do I justify the fact that God didn't save all of those boys too? I know he saved many through the midwives, but then Pharaoh commanded them to be thrown into the Nile. My heart is sad for them. How do you defend those who are angry with God or don't wish to follow God because of a situation like this in his word?”

Jonathan, Moreno Valley: “In regards to love and law, can you explain what Paul is talking about in Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.”

Question 1: "Anti-semitism has been a conversation in the news and social media a lot lately. Why do you think anti-semitism is still showing up even in 2023?

Question 2: "What makes Mt. Sanai the "mountain of God"? Was it considered the mountain of God BEFORE Moses was at the burning bush? Or is it referred to as the "mountain of God" after/because of the fact that Moses experienced God there?"

Question 3: "Pharaoh ordering the murder of newborn males and Moses escaping that order seems to parallel Jesus escaping Herod's order to kill every male-born Jew. is there significance to this? If so, what can we learn about Moses, Jesus, and God's deliverance in this?"

Question 4: "Hello, Pastor Matt. I have a cousin who is part of the LGBTQ community, and she is getting married next year. I've been struggling with whether I should attend or not because of my faith. I want her to know I love her, but I'm scared of losing her if I decide not to go to her wedding. What are your thoughts?"

Question 5: "How do I know when it's God that I hear calling? Sometimes, especially after praying for His path for me, His guidance, and clarity to see and follow His will, I believe I hear His answer. After I have done what I believe is His will, things are even worse than before. How do I trust the answers I believe I hear? Things have continued to decline almost to the point of no return through these "pathways" I perceived as His answers in the last five years, yet I still strive to listen, hear, and do His will. How do I know I am hearing God's call and/or will for me?"

The term "deconstruction" has been tossed around a lot in culture these last few years, and its definition can get a little confusing. When we say deconstruction we are referring to the thought pattern and trends of looking at systems of power and structure, and removing those old ways of thinking.

In culture, we've seen this happen in corporations, education, in our local and federal government and even in spiritual circles. In 2021, searches for “how to heal” on google reached an all time high worldwide. The events of the last two years have prompted people around the world to seek out forms of healing for their inner lives and relationships. And while there is a unifying reality to the fact that people all over the world are looking for a sense of healing, the methods and sources people are turning to for healing are unique and diverse. Psychics and “spiritual guides,” crystals as an energy source, meditation or ancestral rituals have all become commonplace in popular culture today as viable paths to healing. In addition to people becoming more open to the idea of needing a type of spiritual healing, people are also more interested in the supernatural as a means to healing than in previous times. A decade ago stories about miraculous healings were looked at with skepticism. Today, stories about the miraculous and unexplained become viral and generate discussions online. In 2022, people are open to the idea of needing a spiritual solution for their healing and it’s culturally accepted to look for a miracle.

In this episode we'll talk about what healing means, if we should use medication, how the individualization of the church can impact our healing and many other topics!
