Let the oil flow!” and declared the Trump-Iran War over. But strip away the victory lap and look at what we actually got: the same regime in Tehran, a nuclear program still intact, and the Strait of Hormuz handed to Iran as a brand-new bargaining chip it never had before the war. We bombed for three and a half months to get back to where we started on February 27th. UPDATE: With the deal terms now public, hawks and Democrats alike are screaming that Trump “paid Iran $24 billion.” He didn’t — that’s Iran’s own frozen oil money, not your taxes (credit to Reason’s Matthew Petti for the fact-check). But don’t let the fake number distract you from the real one: sanctions relief, immediate oil sales, and an economic lifeline for the regime — in exchange for reopening a strait Iran only closed because we attacked. We still won absolutely nothing. We’re constantly told that “national security” means safety. That it means protection. That it’s about keeping Americans secure. But when you actually look at what these policies are doing, it paints a different picture.

The Trump administration’s immigration crackdown isn’t about stopping crime or terrorism. It’s about using fear to justify banning legal immigrants, separating families, and treating spouses and children of U.S. citizens like potential threats, after they’ve already passed years of vetting.

Today I look at the data, the history, and the logic behind these decisions, and show how “extreme vetting” has become a cover for discrimination, government overreach, and political manipulation. Who actually benefits from this politics of fear?

Recording from Barrancabermeja, Colombia, home to the country’s largest oil refinery, I analyze what Nicolás Maduro’s removal really means for Venezuela and the region. While Maduro is out, the same power structure remains in Caracas: military generals, political insiders, and the networks that have sustained the regime for years. Removing a man is not the same as removing a system, and so far, Venezuela’s system remains firmly in place.

I also examine why Guyana quietly benefits from Maduro’s exit, the reality behind Venezuela’s oil narrative, and why I doubt the U.S. is after the petroleum itself.
