Rory Sutherland has seen a lot and he kindly joined us after La Flèche Wallonne last week to talk us through his career; from arriving in Europe, his early years in Belgium with Rabobank, before racing in the US for five years and returning to ride in Europe with Saxo Tinkoff, Movistar, UAE Team Emirates and now Israel Start Up Nation. We talk about some of the world's biggest races as well as riding for Contador, Valverde and Dan Martin. We discuss his views and thoughts on the sport, how it's evolving, his restaurants/cafes and he even leaves us with some wise words of wisdom. As he hangs up his wheels at the end of the season, we wish Rory all the best with the next chapter.

To follow or contact Rory, you can find him here:

Rory on Twitter
Rory of Instagram
The Federal Cafe on Instagram
The Federal Cafe Girona

Listening to the inspirational author James Nestor talk about his new book, Breathe, on the Joe Rogan Podcast, he mentioned the amazing Iced Viking - Chuck McGee III. We dropped Chuck a note to see if he wanted to join us on the podcast and despite his post Rogan fame, luckily for us, he agreed.

Over the last year or so, we'd become more conscious about breath work and how it was creeping into Elite Sport. We'd heard it was being used in cycling, there's even a mumuring that breath work explains Chris Froome's descending position in the Tour a few years back. The England rugby team have supposedly been using it and there are many more examples.

Chuck was able to give us a great insight into breath work, what it is, various types, the advantages and more. We talk about being a Wim Hoff Method and Oxygen Advantage Instructor. We discuss potential performance gains, taping the mouth shut to sleep, holotropic breathing, feeling light headed, climbing mountains in the snow in just a pair of shorts, slowing your heart rate, ice baths, and lots more – we even do a couple of exercises for you to try.

Below are some resources, it's well worth checking out or joining one of Chuck's free classes. The England rugby team have supposedly been using it and there are many more examples.

Chuck was able to give us a great insight into breath work, what it is, various types, the advantages and more.
We caught up with Rich Lang, who basically ticks every box with regards to the guests we have on the show and the topics we like to cover. He's an Australian former pro, having raced internationally with the Australian Institute of Sport alongside Michal Matthews, Luke Durbridge and Rohan Dennis; before racing with Pro-Conti team Rapha in the UK. After making the decision to retire at 24 years old, he studied before setting up a business community in Haute Rouleurs and becoming a coach. It was during this time Rich had the idea to set up Spok'd making him a tech start up entrepreneur. Spok'd sits nicely as an option between out of the box training plans and engaging with a coach. This online training and coaching platform is his mission to make it simple, personal and smarter to train and get faster. Rich talks us through all of this and we also speak with friend of Unfound, Marc Burroughs, who will be undergoing an eight week trail of Spok'd. We will rendezvous in eight weeks to hear how Marc found the platform, the training and any improvements in performance. Rich will also be able to give Marc some feedback on his training. All in all, a fascinating chat, well worth a listen and we look forward to catching up with both Marc and Rich again in a few weeks.

Visit the Spok'd website for more info
Find Spok'd on Instagram
Find Spok'd on Facebook
Find Spok'd on Twitter
Drop Rich an email with any questions: hello@spokd.com
And Rich's friends at Qualified Nutrition

How do you introduce Emma Pooley? She has ten Olympic, World and Commonwealth medals, including becoming the World ITT Champion in 2010. She has six World Cup victories and seven Stage Races wins to her name, not to mention multiple tri and duathlon victories. Not bad for someone who considers themselves a runner at heart! She also has a PhD in geotechnical engineering having graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2005 with a first class degree in Engineering; managing her studies alongside her racing. She's recently discovered the joys of off-road cycling and bike packing which she now combines with running, swimming, bouldering and riding on the road. She is working with the Swiss Cycling Federation running their Fast and Female programme. She's just broken the Women's World Everesting Record and is the creator of the amazing Pocket Porridge snacks. We discuss all of this, plus a whole load more, so sit back and enjoy.

Emma's website
Pocket Porridge on Instagram
Emma on Instagram
Emma on Facebook
Emma on Twitter
Emma on Strava
VeloVietnam
Swiss Cycling Federation Fast and Female

His journey to winning that race is utterly remarkable and his rollercoaster journey as a pro since then just highlights what a mad world pro-cycling is for those of us on the outside. Facing crossroads in his career on a couple of occasions, Jacob still has ambitions and the belief that he can be successful on the biggest stage. For a man of just 23 years old, he has seen and experienced a lot more than most his age and we look forward to following his journey from here. Compelling listen this one, we enjoyed it a lot.

Follow Jacob on Instagram
Jacob's win in Motherwell last year 💪
Keira McVitty on Instagram
Keira McVitty of YouTube
Canyon dhb Soreen race team
