What does the future hold for Nato? I sat down with Admiral Rob Bauer, the previous Chair of Nato's Military Committee to talk about Nato, what the future holds for Nato and what Finland's accession to Nato looked like to him.

The Nato Summit in the Hague will be historical this week. With a lot of tension around the world and the transatlantic partnership leaking, there is huge pressure on member countries to up their game in terms of financing Nato and their defence and capabilities. Will Europe split the bill and what does that mean for the Summit in the Hague?

Keir Giles on Ukraine, Russia and the threat that Russia poses on the West

Keir Giles is an expert on the Russian military and has written multiple books and guides on the the Russian military and Russian disinformation. We had a chance to sit down for a talk at the Summer School of Rhetoric.

We talked about the war in Ukraine, Ukrainean drone strikes into Russia and what the situation is going in to the summer of '25. We also talked about the threat that Russia poses on Europe, the disinformation sphere as well as the UK's new defence review.

Let's talk Unmanned Ground Vehicles, or UGVs! They've entered the battlefield after the war in Ukraine started pushing the innovations of the defence industry in order to help Ukraine win. Where do we stand with them today and what part will they play on the future battlefield?

Let's continue with callsign "Lurch" on the F-35, Top Gun Finland and Ukraine! What's our pilots take on the Top Gun movies? What kind of missions is the F-35 suitable for and what sets it apart from other fighters? Why was Finland's procurement process so rigorous and what did the German air force have to say about that? And what is his take on Ukraine, F-16 and the air warfare that we're seeing, or not seeing?

Scott Davis, callsign "Lurch", is a fighter pilot with over 3600 flight hours in the F-15, F-16, F-18 and F-22 fighters. He's also attended and instructed at the TOPGUN courses in both US Navy and US Air Force. He now works for Lockheed Martin in the Nordics and he came on our show to talk to us about his career and the F-35, which is the new fighter jet for the Finnish Air Force.

Let's talk fighter jets, in two parts! Scott Davis, callsign "Lurch", is a fighter pilot with over 3600 flight hours in the F-15, F-16, F-18 and F-22 fighters. He's also attended and instructed at the TOPGUN courses in both US Navy and US Air Force. He now works for Lockheed Martin in the Nordics and he came on our show to talk to us about his career and the F-35, which is the new fighter jet for the Finnish Air Force.

In this first part of the series we talk about Scott's career through TOPGUN schools and what it was like to write the playbook for the first 5th generation fighters. We also discuss the differences between generations and especially how the 4th and 5th generation airframes differ. What's dog fighting like in a 4th generation versut 5th generation airplane?
