Romans Untangled is a weekly podcast that takes a seemingly complicated book of the Bible and untangles it so we can see its beauty.

Pastor Steve Treichler of Hope Community Church in Minneapolis, MN is our host as we make this wonderful book of the apostle Paul accessible to all - those who are new to the Bible, as well as those who have been a follower of Christ for years and years.

Paul has just told us in Romans 1:16-17 that he is really excited and not ashamed about the gospel (which means literally “good news”) of God. So, you would think that as he begins his teaching on the gospel now in the meat of the letter, it would begin with some encouraging truths. Not so much! We are now diving into the “bad news” of the book of Romans so that the “good news” of the gospel will seem that much greater!

These issues in the past were things like dancing, card playing, going to movies and working on Sundays. Now, they are like the use of alcohol, the use of money for personal pleasures, how and what we watch on our TVs. How do we navigate these tough issues? This is exactly what our study of Romans will lead us to on this week’s edition of Romans Untangled.

Even our local weather station has a TOP TEN WEATHER day that they use about 1-2 x per month. One of these words is the word ambition. The Oxford English Dictionary defines it as “a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work.” In this episode of Romans Untangled, we will look at the apostle Paul’s strong desire or ambition that drove his every day.

As we get close to the conclusion of this amazing letter from the apostle Paul, he shows us a bit of his heart. By this time in his ministry, Paul has been very mistreated by many people for his proclamation of the gospel. And yet, even after all the hardship, disappointment and loss he has faced, we see his deep desire and mission to still be involved in ministering to people.
