Advent 2024: God Draws Near - New Temple

During our Advent series, we will be exploring the ways that God draws near to humanity throughout the Bible. We will begin in the Garden, then the tabernacle and temple, then Jesus’ birth, and then the sending and filling of the Holy Spirit that makes us His temples. We want to celebrate that God has always desired to be with His people, and He has always been moving nearer and nearer so we could know Him, and live life with Him.

This Advent, we celebrate the arrival of Jesus with the theme “God Draws Near.” Through Scripture, we’ll explore how God’s movement has always been toward humanity, revealing His love and desire to be with us. Join us as we reflect on the power of His presence in our world and our lives.

Merry Christmas Eve! As we celebrate the arrival of Jesus, our theme for Advent is “Peace On Earth”. Since Jesus’ birth is the arrival of Peace on Earth, we will be exploring the different ways that Jesus brings Peace throughout the birth narratives in the Gospels of Matthew & Luke. Through the birth narrative, Jesus brings Peace to different people in different places who have very different circumstances, but His arrival unleashes something profoundly powerful that transforms them all. Our prayer is that we would experience that same Peace during advent and extend that Peace to others too.

Jesus is asked to intervene in a financial dispute between brothers. In the conversation that follows, Jesus provides some crucial teaching about how his people should relate to money. Money is one of God’s primary rivals (Luke 16:13), and God’s people need instruction and inspiration on how to use money in a God-glorifying way. This series isn’t mostly about any particular financial habit (giving, saving, reducing debt, etc.). Rather, it’s about cultivating a healthy and godly relationship to money.
