Even if it was years ago?</p><p>Today the Pasayten Institute is announcing our new, free course: Quantum Mechanics for the Working Professional. </p><p>This course is your chance to learn Quantum Mechanics in an informal setting, one idea at a time.</p><p>Why learn quantum mechanics?</p><p>Unbelievable it as it sounds, Quantum Computing is now available on the cloud. While nascent, standard and thermal quantum computing-as-a service programs are now provided by organizations like <a href="https://aws.amazon.com/braket/">Amazon Bracket</a> and <a href="https://www.dwavesys.com">D-Wave Systems</a>. This allows individuals and organizations to access quantum computing resources which may well be able to solve previously intractable or laborious problems.</p><p>What kind of problems? </p><ul><li> data encryption</li><li> optimization problems</li><li>and simulating quantum mechanics itself (for use in industrial applications to say, chemistry)</li></ul><p><br>Of course, things are still young and Quantum Computing is not indistinguishable from magic. Yet.</p><p>In February of this year, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the National Science foundation <a href="https://www.nsf.gov/news/news_summ.jsp?cntn_id=304343">released a strategic plan</a> to <a href="https://www.quantum.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/QIST-Natl-Workforce-Plan.pdf">train up the next generation of Americans</a> on Quantum Information Science and Technology or QIST. In K-12 education. In College education. QIST is coming, and its not just for Science Majors anymore.</p><p>Now is a great time to get familiar with the basic concepts in Quantum Mechanics.</p><p>If you’re curious and comfortable with learning some mathematics, this course is for you.  If you’re keen on learning quantum mechanics.
