Dancing through life, one poem at a time!

Welcome to Pods of Poems — a podcast of poems, songs and stories about real life, memories and the moments that connect us.

From the realities of caring and the people I've met along the way, to the music, memories and mischief of the 80s and 90s, and the things happening around us today.

Three very different worlds:

❤️ Carer Diaries — real stories from the world of caring, exploring the people, moments and emotions behind the job.

📺 Nostalgia Nights In — a trip down memory lane through the music, television, dancing and memories of the 80s and 90s.

🇬🇧 Britain Beyond The Shouting — poems and songs about the things happening around us, looking beyond the headlines and the noise.

Sometimes serious. Sometimes nostalgic. Sometimes completely daft. 😂

But running through everything is one simple message:

BE KIND. ❤️

So grab a cuppa, get comfortable and come along for the ride.

Faces at the Door | Pods of Poems — Episode 4

❤️ A poem about dementia, caring, and the people behind the diagnosis.

What happens when someone you love begins to change in ways you can’t explain, and the familiar world around them becomes confusing?

In this episode of Pods of Poems, we explore the realities of dementia and caring through an original poem written by Anne.

Drawing on many years of experience working as a live-in carer, Anne writes from the heart, sharing the realities and emotions that can come with caring for someone living with dementia.

When someone no longer recognises a familiar face, no longer recognises a beloved pet, or repeatedly says they want to go home, those moments can be heart breaking for everyone involved.

Dementia affects more than the person receiving the diagnosis. It touches families, friends and carers too — including the many unpaid carers who quietly give so much of themselves to support someone they love.

Behind every diagnosis is a person with a lifetime of memories, experiences, relationships and feelings. They deserve patience, dignity, understanding and kindness.

And the people doing the caring deserve understanding and kindness too.

Thank you for listening. If this episode touches your heart or reflects something you have experienced, you are welcome to share your thoughts. ❤️

I'm only just starting out with Pods of Poems, but I'd love to slowly build a supportive space where carers can chat, support each other and, most importantly, have a laugh! ❤️

💬 Come and join me on Facebook: Facebook

Don't be shy — come and say hi! 👋 The kettle's on (virtually, of course 😂☕). Four channels, no remote control, and a whole evening of television to look forward to!

Welcome to Pods of Poems!

We're heading back to the days when Saturday night television was an event in itself. Families gathered around the telly, everyone had their favourites, and changing channels usually meant getting up and doing it yourself!

There were so many brilliant shows that it would be impossible to mention them all, so I've included some of my own favourites — programmes that still make me smile whenever I think about them, and I hope they make you smile too!

Before streaming, catch-up TV and endless scrolling, we made the most of what was on. There were familiar theme tunes, family traditions and those little moments that somehow stay with us for years.

And of course, what's a trip down memory lane without a bit of music? 🎶 Get ready for a Poptastic Cheese Fest! 😂🧀😉 With a little inspiration from the sounds of the era, Pod and I are bringing back that unmistakable 80s and 90s pop feeling — with a Pods of Poems twist!

Join me for a little nostalgia as we revisit the television, characters and memories that made those Saturday nights special.

🎧 In this episode:

Saturday night television in the 80s and 90s

Life before remote controls and streaming

Some of my favourite shows from the era

Music inspired by the sounds of the time

The little moments that made Saturday nights special

Pods of Poems celebrates the stories, music and moments that connect us — whether they bring back memories, make us laugh or remind us just how much everyday life has changed.

So get comfy, put the kettle on, and join me for a little nostalgia. ☕📺

🎭 Dancing through life, one poem at a time.

❤️ Be kind.
