James | Pursuing the Wanderer

M ore people have left the church in the last twenty-five years than all the new people who became Christians from the First Great Awakening, Second Great Awakening, and Billy Graham crusades combined." This is a quote from a book called The Great Dechurching that Chris Dew shared today. As we wrap up our series through the book of James, Chris shares that we all know someone who has wandered away from the church. But instead of simply accepting that, we should instead be pursuing the person who has wandered away from the church just like Jesus pursues the lost sheep that wandered away from the flock.

James | Good and Bad Religion

The religion we’re talking about is at the end of James, chapter 1 where James talks about a religion that’s worthless; a religion that, as we read in the book of Amos, God calls a stench that he hates and despises. James | How to Live a Blessed Life

The Story of Easter: On the Road

The story of Easter reveals to us not only something about who we are but how Jesus opens our eyes to see Him for who He is and about how we can come to know Him.

In Luke 24, the journey to Emmaus is both a literal and a spiritual journey. On the one hand, it recounts the story of two disciples who, after the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord, walk seven miles from Jerusalem to their village of Emmaus. On the other hand, it outlines the journey that we all take from not recognizing Jesus, to understanding what the Scripture says about Him, to recognizing Him for who He is, and finally to our giving witness of what we have experienced.
