I would challenge you and say that my own prayer life has been greatly impacted by the BCP over the past year. There is a richness to learning from prayer that is much older and broader than the traditions that are only a hundred years or so. Drew also, was part of the team that transposed and released the 1662 BCP. Also amazing!!!

Both Bob and Doug were youth pastors, Doug was obviously better than Bob, but I digress. This episode Bob and Doug talk with youth ministry legend Tic Long who has seen the scope from the early years of youth ministry being a thing until now. It has the feel of a PBS documentary that could be next Ken Burns project. Tic Long has spent most of his adult life in youth ministry and leadership. He worked at Youth Specialties for 34 years. Most of those years he spent leading the National Youth Workers Convention, which he loved and poured his heart and soul into. Speaking of soul, Tic also had a killer soul patch. As our valued friends, we wanted to let you know about a timely and important FREE virtual event coming up: the Church Mental Health Summit on October 10. We’re helping spread the word about this very needed summit, presented by Hope Made Strong and Spiritual First Aid.

The summit’s goal is to equip people as pastors, leaders, and volunteers, empowering them (and their congregations) to build a culture of care in their churches. We’d love for you to be a part of this event and share it with those in your circle. The more people who sign up and attend, the more churches and individuals we can help.

Summit participants will hear from a diverse group of speakers in four categories: Global Health, Community Health, Church Health, and Leadership Health. They’ll learn how to break down the stigma of mental health and receive resources, tools, and strategies to help better serve those with emotional distress—and the people who care about them.

Our hope is that church leaders, pastors, and volunteers will take the tools from the Church Mental Health Summit and guide their churches to become safer places for desperate people to belong, be honest about their struggles, and find healing.

This week many of our listeners had to make some tough leadership decisions regarding Covid-19. We love you, and we know that nothing has prepared us well for this moment. We spend a few moments, in the beginning, talking about some thoughts we have as we have thought through the pandemic. Disclaimer, we recorded on Thursday, March 12, less than 2 hours after, the county J.R. and I live in closed all its schools for the next two weeks, has canceled all large gatherings and is asking the population to practice social distancing. And, there is a toilet paper shortage!! We are sure that even when this reaches our listeners, the situation will have changed again. Our interview this week is with Alan Fadling is timely. It is best to be away from home, work and/or church office and make sure to find a location that will be interruption-free and quiet for the entire four hours.
