Beginning in present day London, we meet a 12 year old Quinn, who will one day be lucky enough to grow up into Christian Bale. While visiting his mother at work, in a large mine, he takes a walks through the caverns and discovers none other than, a, Dragon. A Literal Fire Breathing Dragon, in present day London. As you may assume, the Dragons are, for lack of a better term, kind of dicks, as they ravish the Earth of its people, and crops. Fast Forward about twenty years later, and we meet a present day Quinn, just trying to help the few survivors left on this scorched Earth.

This week on Midnight Showing, Luke and Nash are reviewing a more recent film than usual, Inherent Vice, starring Joaquin Phoenix and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Based of a novel of the same title, Inherent Vice is a trippy detective story based in a beach community in California in the start of the 1970's.

Set in 1970 in a beach community, we meet Larry "Doc" Sportello, who for lack of a better term, is as dirty as hippies come. Doc is a private investigator who is randomly visited by a previous lover, who is desperately asking for his help in protecting her new lover, Mickey, a successful real estate agent from his wife and her lover, who want to get him locked up in an insane asylum. Quickly we are on the case with doc, as leaves no stone unturned, and no joint unsmoked.

This week on Midnight Showing Luke and Nash are getting back to basics after the Studio Ghibli Special by picking a random movie from the 90's they had never seen, much like their original 12 Monkeys experience. Will Blood and Wine be as good as that? listen to check our thoughts on Blood and Wine Starring Jack Nicholson and Michael Cane.

Set in the year of its release we quickly meet a Jason, a young man with a passion for fishing, and a distaste for his step father Alex, played by Jack Nicholson. Alex happens to be a bit of a shady dude himself, possibly justifying Jason’s distaste for him, as he has no issue robbing the wealthy family he just sold an exuberant amount of wine to. As things start to escalate around the stolen merchandise, Alex soon loses ties with Jason and his Mother, causing a chain reaction in which everyone might get burned.

The Studio Ghibli special continues this week with Princess Mononoke, and will conclude next week with a review of Spirited Away.

Set in Ancient Times , we quickly meet Ashitaka, the warrior prince of a long disgraced people. Ashitaka is quickly thrown into action, as a literal monster filled with rage and hatred comes down from the mountain on a murdering rampage. Askitaka makes work of the beast, revealing the monster to be a giant boar, but not before getting stung by the beast's hatred. Leaving behind a curse mark, our Prince will soon be dead, forced to leave his people in the hopes of finding a cure to his curse of rage. Ashitaka then embarks on a journey that will change everything, in hopes of extinguishing the rage and hatred that drove the giant bore to madness, hopefully before his curse mark ends up taking his life..

The Studio Ghibli Special continues this week, as Nash and Luke sit down to watch "Castle in the sky". Another magical adventure leading to the legendary lost city of Laputa, that supposedly floats amongst the heavens.

Starting aboard a military ship, we meet a young orphan named Sheeta, who is on her way to a prison for unknown reasons. The ship is soon attacked by a gang of air pirates. Escaping the ship, by literally jumping out of the window miles above the Earth, Sheeta slowly floats down to the Earth, into the arms of another orphan named Pazu. The Two soon embark on a journey that may eventually lead them to Laputa, the legendary Castle in the Sky.

Set 1,000 Years after the 7 days of fire , an apocalyptic war in which bio - engineered god-like figures destroyed and torched the world leaving behind an immense amount of poison pollution , we meet the princess of the Valley in the Wind, Nausicaa. Nausicaa’s village has yet to be extinguished by the toxic pollution , letting them live semi-hospitable life in the valley. Although one fateful day, a war ship transporting an ancient weapon crashes into the valley of the wind, putting Nausicaa and her people in jeopardy. It's up to Nausicaa to overcome the Toxic Jungle that surrounds the lands, and try to reunite all of these fallen kingdoms with the power of hope and the nature around us.

Set….. After Hours..;) , we follow Paul Hackett. Our introduction to Paul leads us to believe he is a distracted man who often looks for something to spice up the night as his job isn't exactly exciting. Unfortunately for Paul, this want of adventure would turn out to be a near death sentence for him, as he enters a taxi cab to take him across New York to meet up with a girl he met in a diner a few horus beforehand. His night gets continuously worse, as he meets more and more strange characters of the night, soon wanting to do nothing but get home and back into his mundane life working a desk job.

This week on Midnight Showing Luke and Nash are joined by Nash's good friend Houston for the first time since their review of Akira way back in season 1. They all take a look at Batman : Mask of the Phantasm the animated movie, which truly exemplifies the character of Batman, possibly better than any other animated incarnation of the character. All three of them grew up watching Batman : The Animated Series, making the review of The Phantasm close to all of their hearts.

Gotham City! What kind of introduction does one of the greatest fictional cities deserve? Well let's say that we know Bruce Wayne has been Batman for about a decade now. Suddenly, all of the old mob bosses from before Batman's time have slowly started being picked off by a new vigilante that we have not seen before in the animated universe. Conveniently enough, this new vigilante has a striking resemblance to Batman, and Batman soon finds himself being blamed for the various dead mobsters around town. Batman now must not only clear his name, but uncover who is behind the Mask of the Phantasm.

O'Meara has no idea about Rory's controversial past in Ireland, and before he can figure out his true Identity, Tom's family is out in danger. Starting in Northern Ireland in the year 1972, we meet a young Frankie McGuire, who’s life is quickly turned upside down when he witnesses his fathers killing, for being an Irish republican sympathizer. 20 years later, young Frankie grew up to be Brad Pitt, a member of the IRA, and a notorious member none the less. After being forced to flee the country, Frankie travels to America in hopes of lying low, now going by the name Rory Devaney. Through an IRA connection, Rory soon finds himself staying within the home of a police sergeant, played by Harrison Ford. As you can possibly assume, lying low never goes according to plan, as Rory’s life soon begins to put Harrison ford and his family in danger.

In an alternate version of America in the year 1997, Air force 1 crashes into Manhattan, which has been manufactured into a giant maximum security prison. This week on Midnight Showing, Luke and Nash take a look at a the British crime thriller The Layer Cake Starring Daniel Craig. Based on the book of the same title, The Layer Cake is an interesting take on the classic crime film, and the expectations we would have for something of that nature.

Set in London around the time of its release, we follow Daniel Craig, a mid level cocaine dealer, who wants an early retirement from criminal life. Of course in the criminal world, it's never as easy as “just walking away”, as Craig soon finds himself thrust into the complicated pair of two jobs that will make is exit from the criminal life even harder than he previously expected.

Set in the year 1949, we meet a barber named Ed Crane, who does not like to consider himself a barber. As he goes through the motions of life, Working, eating, going home to a distant wife, he soon finds boredom in the act of it all, and is given the opportunity to invest in the a new invention called “Dry Cleaning.” To get the money for this investment Ed Crane blackmails the man who is sleeping with his wife, and from that moment, the world of Ed Crane slowly falls apart.

This Week on Midnight Showing, Luke and Nash are taking to Scotland to hangout with the legendary Robert Roy McGregor. Rob Roy is a 90's drama starring Liam Neeson, Tim Roth and Jessica Lange, in which all of these intertwined characters are forced up against the wall in this interesting historical fiction piece.

Set in Scotland during the early 1700’s we meet Robert Roy MacGregor, the head of a proud highland clan. Knowing that his clan could be much better off, Rob Roy takes out a 1,000 pound loan from the Marquis of montrose to help feed his people through the upcoming winter. Without giving too much away about the conflict of the film, let's just say a 1,000 pound loan is never as easy as just picking up the money and returning home safely.

Set in the year in its release, We are quickly thrown into a situation with little to no context! Always fun. We start off in a mall and are given a look into what it's like to be a Scanner, as a man stares at a women, and as he focuses on her she begins to have a seizure in the middle of the mall. What is a scanner you may ask, well that would be a spoiler so I won't tell you in this world description. A hint though? Individuals with a telepathic curiosity. The value of this movie lies within the odd an unique world description given to us in the movie so I wanted to make this world synopsis vague as well.

Set in the year of its release, we open upon a prison cell housing Frank White, a notorious gangster who has spent a considerable amount of time in prison and once he gets out, he of course has an agenda. Although this agenda includes murder , and drug trafficking, Frank sees a bigger picture in which he can use these illict activities to give back to the community with the influx of money from these illict activities.

Set in the year 1986, a group of juvenile misfits who have been locked up for various reasons, are forced to be entered into a rehabilitative program in which they learn how to survive off the land and for all intensive purposes, become bad asses. Under the wing of the creator of this program, Joe, a vietnam war vetern, the group of misfits discover a self esteem within themselves, and hopefully will begin to change their lives and the lives of everyone around them for the better.

In the season 2 opening of Midnight Showing, Luke and Nash take a look at Virtuosity, an interesting Sci-Fi film starring Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington.

- Set in the close future of 1999, Denzel Washington plays the role of Parker Barnes, a former detective who is serving out a 17 year sentence in Prison. Barnes of course is one of the best police officers the city has ever seen, forcing the department to call upon him whenever they are in the dire need for his services. Being set in the future, Barnes is tasked with entering a Virtual Reality, in which a virtual Serial Killer played by Russell Crowe is wreaking havoc within the program. In the first confrontation we see between Barnes and SID, Barnes' partner is killed within the Virtual Reality, causing him to die in real life. With a dead body on their hands, the creators of the program are forced to shut down the virtual reality they have spent countless hours pouring their life into. Having spent so much time creating SID and his reality, the creator of the program takes the insane route of actually putting SID into the real world through the use of NanoTechnology. Being the only person who has ever successfully tracked down SID in the VR, the police force must call upon Barnes to track down SID in the real world. -
