His collaboration with Brian and Eddie Holland would be responsible for much of the Motown sound and after Motown he would become founder and owner of Invictus Records and Hot Wax Records producing hits for likes of Freda Payne , Honey cone, and Chairmen Of The Bord.

On July 28th 1967, British-based Jamaican music company, Island Records launched a label to showcase the output of one of the most popular and successful producers of the ska and rock steady eras – Arthur ‘Duke’ Reid.

Surprisingly the label failed to fulfill its potential and folded after a matter of months. And this may well have been the end of the Trojan story had it not been for the creation of a new Jamaican music company, launched in the summer of ’68, which then took over the the name of Trojan.

On the 20 of May 1977 In the City the first album from the Jam was released, and the rest, as they say, is history. 18 top 40 singles 4 number 1's and when the disbanded in 1982, their first 15 singles were re-released and all placed within the top 100.

Tonight, on Its A Way Of Life on Radio Mix, in conjunction Liquidator Music, as it is May 1st, I have a 2hr special showcasing a concert that was recorded live at The Bridge House, in Canning Town, London and featured 6 of the top Mod Revival bands of the time. Squire, Beggar, The Mods, The Small Hours, The Merton Parkas and Secret Affair. The original vinyl press omitted The Merton Parkas completely and only had a couple of tracks from each of the bands, however, in 2002 the album was remastered to include the full concert.

Death Of Guitar released their first album in 2017 and are going from strength to strength. They have now released three albums and the last hit the top 40, not bad for a band that is solely funded by their fans.

On 6th May 2021 the band filmed a live concert, behind closed doors due to the pandemic, and broadcast it live on social media. That concert has now been converted in to a fan-club only CD and that's what I am bringing you tonight. 40 years ago this month The Jam released their 6th and final studio album The Gift. After the resulting Trans Global Express tour Paul Weller disbanded The Jam.

I was honored to get behind the decks At Darcie's Motown Bar in Benelmadena on the Costa Del Sol Spain this week and had a brilliant time playing some of the songs you will hear tonight. Music from Shirley Ellis, Marv Johnson, Freddie Chavez, Jr Walker and many more.

On top of this have two tracks from The Manics. They hail from Norrköping, Sweden, and have been going since 2010.

They produce an upright, uncompromising and honest guitar based

Day 2, 60's kids discovered soul, and ska and rode Italian scooters. Day 3, ,the late 70s, saw revivalists led by a fresh faced Modfather. Day 4, the 80's witnessed the rise of independent record label Two Tone and the rebirth of Ska. Day 5, the mid 90's, and the birth of Brit pop and on the sixth day inspired by the moderns, the suedes, the revivalists, beatniks, and brit-poppers, a new bunch of bands citing mod as their musical motivation. These bands and their fans are known as Generation Mod, and its on these bands that we will be concentrating on tonight' The Mads, Men Of North Country, Private Jones, Smashing Time,The Third Degree, The Get Go and many many more. A week or so ago there was a post on one of the mod pages on Facebook asking who were the current batch of solo artists and bands that could be classed as Modern Day mods. It was an interesting post, and forms the basis of tonight's show. The suggested bands were so good that I could not bring myself to cut out anyone out of the show so tonight we over run. Not everyone will agree with the choices made and there are bound to be some bands that have been missed off, but come on, join me tonight to make your own mind up.
