When desire turns to shame, no matter what has caused shame in your life, you have a God who draws you to Him to heal you of all your shame. Nothing is too big for our God. In today's podcast, we will be discussing overcoming addiction in our lives. Be it from drugs and alcohol to food and perfectionism. Whatever you are dealing with, you have to know you are loved, and you are not alone. May this podcast remind you that you can overcome anything in your life because you have a God who loves you and He passionately pursues you and your heart. Going through the book of Genesis, we are reading Chapter 2, "The Fall," today.

In part 2 of Healing from Past Shame, we will discover that we all have experienced past hurts. As we share some of our experiences with you, we pray that you will not feel alone through this difficult healing process. But we know that there is healing in a good community. We will begin this podcast by reading chapters 2 and 3 of Genesis and looking back at how it all started.

The Shame of A Mother

In "The Shame of a Mother," we have all felt how our choices have affected those around us. This episode will talk about shame, grief, and loss, and how to walk through some of the most painful moments that we as humans have to face: the loss of a loved one. In this episode, we will read through Genesis 4, and Patti will be sharing her testimony about when she lost her son to death and the other son to drugs and alcohol.

Shame in Our Walk with God

In this episode of Healing From Shame, Dawn Box and I will talk about
"Shame in Our Walk with God." As we go through Genesis, we are now in Genesis chapter 6, the story of Noah. It may even be a surprise that we will be talking about Noah and Shame. However, because of Noah's tremendous amount of faith and walking with God, it seems that I can experience shame in different ways as I walk closer to God. Either I feel shame that man will think I am crazy, or I feel shame that I even think that. Because of our humanity, it is normal to doubt God, but it doesn't mean that the same doubt affects our walk. So, come hear how Dawn and I deal with some tough moments of walking by faith.

This word from Exodus 34 has changed my view of God, and I had to ask myself the hard question: is my faith based on who God says He is, or has my faith been based on what has happened to me? For it is impossible to please God without faith, according to Hebrews 11. I pray that the Holy Spirit would speak to your heart as He did to mine; you shine brighter than you think!!!

Shame In Confusion

This episode of Walking Through Shame is called "Shame in Confusion" because, as we have been reading through Genesis, we have approached chapter 11, "The Tower of Babel," which is an interesting part of Scripture. So, on this episode, we discuss our testimony on how God used confession, and because we were walking close to him, what the enemy intended for evil, you will get to hear how God used it for good. Melanie will share her testimony, and then I will discuss misused quotes that are not scriptural, but we will discuss what the Bible says about these things. I pray that you are encouraged and that God will use this episode to release you of any shame that you may have gotten through confusion, as he did for Melanie and me. We are almost at the end of season one, with one more episode to go, and will return in February 2025. In today's episode, we will discuss how blessings can also come from family through inheritance, legacy, and our family stories of redemption. Today, you will hear from two of my favorite people, Velvette Williams and Amber Dozier, as we share how we grew up, came to know the Lord, and received the call over our lives. Just know that no matter what type of family you come from, it doesn't have to stay the same in the way you live your life. We serve a generational God, and there is always hope that things can get better.

True Worship

I had the honor of being invited to teach at a retreat by the women at Living Waters for Square Church this past October 2025 in Utah. It's an absolutely amazing retreat, and I am happy to share the message that the Lord put on my heart, which comes from John 4:24 to worship in truth and spirit. Here are the other scriptures that I used throughout the teaching. I hope you enjoy.
John 4:23-24 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Hosea 2:14-23“Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her. There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt. In that day,” declares the Lord, “you will call me ‘my husband’; you will no longer call me ‘my master.’ I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips; no longer will their names be invoked. In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety. I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord. “In that day I will respond,” declares the Lord—“I will respond to the skies, and they will respond to the earth; and the earth will respond to the grain, the new wine and the olive oil, and they will respond to Jezreel. I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.’ I will say to those called ‘Not my people,’ ‘You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”

Exodus 20: 4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

2 Samuel 24:24 “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”

Malachi 1:7-8 “By offering defiled food on my altar. “But you ask, ‘How have we defiled you?’ “By saying that the Lord’s table is contemptible. When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice lame or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says the Lord Almighty.

Contempt is defined as- the feeling that a person or a thing is beneath considered, worthless, or deserving scorn.

Worship-worthilness worthy- ship

Sacrifice -It comes from the latin word sacrificial meaning the act of making something sacred (Holy, simply worth of awe and respect.)

James 3:11 “Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?”

John 4:14 “but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Exodus 15:22-27 “Bitter water of Marah”
