This week: like Heated Rivalry mixed with Law and Order. No crimes are solved and nobody makes out in the locker room, but we do get existential despair and Ger punching himself in the face with a doorknob, so it's not a total loss.
Also, since recording this, we found out that, much like how Ger was not actually an amazing male ballet dancer in Diamonds, he's also not an amazing hockey player/skater in Sidestreet. You know who WAS an amazing hockey player/skater? A YOUNG WAYNE GRETZKY. AMAZING. Famous athlete body doubles are now officially a new Geracteristic.

Pavane (2008) AND In Their Shoes-- "The Loyalists" (1977)

Prepare for our most unhinged episode thus far, in which we discuss the 2008 short film Pavane, in which Ger plays a man who was maybe-definitely sexually assaulted as a pre-teen and now must wear Estelle Getty's glasses, and the 1977 episode "The Loyalists" from what I can only assume was a CBC Canadian history show called In Their Shoes, in which Ger plays a damned dirty American rebel right after the American Revolution. Thank God we no longer need live in fear of roving bands of "patriots" coming to rip people out of their beds in the name of America.

Multiple people fall out of multiple windows, and Ger appears to have had all of his screams dubbed over by an Austrian man.

This is another "I guess it's legally a movie" movie, you guys.
Come for the young Milo Kunis, a younger William Shatner, and the knowledge that the on-set costumer must have really loved ole GWD, because she dressed him beautifully. Tweed jackets POSITIVELY ABOUND.
The plot is lacking and the movie actively hates you for watching it, but they did our boy right in the costume department, so... not a total loss?

Rachel's currently camping in an undisclosed location, so I'm aware the sound quality could be better.

This week, Ger gets second billing to a dog for, like, the THIRD time in the very short history of this podcast, and it's not even a capable dog like The Littlest Hobo.
Denise Virieux (German vampire lesbian) and Ron Akayama (murderous yakuza) show back up, which is neat, and the lead of this show, Jesse Collins, will appear as a mad scientist on an episode of Forever Knight. Ger's filmography is literally just a story of one man picking up future guest stars and saving them in his pocket for later. We stan a #friendhoarder over here at GCGI.
This tv show is honestly not good-- we somehow landed on a VERY SPECIAL EPISODE aka another dose of EXTREME TRAUMA FOR KIDZ, plus some fun doses of racism and ableism.
Don't feel too bad for Ger, though-- he clearly filmed all of his scenes on a lunch break from Dracula, the Series. He was fine, we're fine, and no puppets had sex in this episode, so it is by no means the nadir of his storied career.

PS I was wrong-- it's season 3 in North America and season 2 in France.

Skip the movie, read some Thomas King or Sherman Alexie books instead (or watch Smoke Signals, based on Alexie's short story collection, Tonto and the Lone Ranger Fistfight in Heaven).
Definitely check out the VHS cover to Ikwe posted over on our Instagram page, though. You will NOT be disappointed.

Armed with the expert advice of his coroner (who's pretty sure this is strep) he more or less just bears witness as his wife's mother follows suit but, surprise twist, has an alien baby after getting it on in his marital bed. Good times are had by all.
