Welcome to the 'Full of It' podcast. Before you make any assumptions, and guess that this podcast is just two cocky birds talking, I want to tell you what this pod is really about. 'Full of it' is an honest collection of conversations based around psychology, human behaviour, and the ups and downs of life. With over 50 years of experience working in the health (physical and mental) industry between us, we share our honest reflections on every day issues, as well as offering some different perspectives on some of the barriers that come up in the ups and downs of life.

This weeks episode starts with the first in our series on stress and anxiety. When we put out a request for questions a few weeks ago, many of you messaged regarding stress or anxiety in leaving cert teenagers. Some of you asked for strategies in dealing with your own personal stress levels and many more of you spoke about anxiety 'coming out of nowhere' and stopping you from doing every day things like socialising. So, we have decided to do a series and hopefully help to satisfy your curiosity about the differences between stress and anxiety and share some of the strategies we have used.

This is a huge topic to navigate, and as such, it is impossible to cover every nuance within an hour. So, the aim of today's episode is to increase awareness of disordered eating behaviours and the most prevalent eating disorders. As a nutritionist, Fiona has observed some of these behaviours in prospective clients but it is important to note that it is outside her professional scope of practice and so clients with eating disorders will always be referred to clinical specialists. In her role within mental health, Ber has worked with patients suffering with eating disorders and highlights some of the disordered behaviours that, if left untreated, may develop into eating disorders. We will follow up this conversation with part II next week where we will delve further into this topic.

If you have been impacted by any of the content we have discussed today or if you are recognising some of these behaviours in your own life, you can contact www.bodywhys.ie for information on how to get more help & support in this space.

This week, we are discussing gratitude - now before you roll your eyes, myself and Ber want to share how gratitude has been an incredibly powerful force in our lives.
Welcome to the 'Full of it' Podcast - It's a little tongue in cheek, but for those of you who know us, you'll know the name is appropriate. In this first episode of the podcast, we discuss real change. What does it actually look like? Does it fit with the 'New Year/New Me' vibes...or is that just setting us up for failure. Instead, we take a closer look at the steps you might consider being curious about if you feel change is on the cards for you.

Welcome to the 'Full of It' Podcast. In 2024, Ber Downey undertook a massive cycle across a country from Paris to Nice and in doing so, raised over €12,000 for the Irish Kidney Association. More importantly, Ber & Fiona began a campaign of sharing information about live kidney donation and the life changing impact it could have on thousands of people living with kidney failure.
As a part of that campaign, Ber and Fiona had a series of radio interviews and even made it to the couch on Virgin Media's "Ireland AM". Following a very successful effort to raise awareness for live donation, Ber and Fiona decided that there were many other topics that they could shed the light on. Social media is drowned with advice givers, and it's difficult to find the grains of truth in this age of information. This is where the 'Full of It' Podcast was born.
Both Ber & Fiona have in excess of 40 years of professional experience working with clients - Ber in the mental health field, and Fiona in physical health and fitness. Together, they want to bring to you practical, relatable conversations so that you can continue to grow, and flourish and look at the challenges we all face with a new perspective.
Our episodes will be released each Saturday, and we would love to hear your feedback, your ideas and your weekly wins.
Our first episode, out this Saturday, is based around the New Year changes that we all feel under pressure to make.

Is starting your year with a New Years Resolution really ideal? We know that most people 'fail' with resolutions....but WHY? And how could we approach the new year in a way that will actually be productive. In this podcast, Fiona & Ber bring their experience of working with clients to you, the listener. The aim of this episode is to offer a different perspective and provide another option that doesn't pressure us into change before we are ready for it.
