And Burak is of course joined by both Kaan Bayazit and Özer Dindjer as to not just loo at this weekend's Turkish Süper Lig results, but they also talk some Turkey call ups, what do our hosts thin of Senol Günes' first squad? Finally we look at the league table headed in to the international break, as the Süper Lig will be going on a 3 week hiatus. Football á la Turca - S1E6 (March 26th 2019) International break (Turkey vs. Albania and Moldova) and the foreign limit debate /w Bruno Bottaro

We're back this week with another exciting episode of Football á la Turca, despite the Turkish Süper Lig being on a hiatus due to the international break.

Our usual suspects return as Burak, Kaan and Özer look back fondly on a great start to Turkey's EURO qualifyign campaign with wins over Albania and Moldova and to do so they are joined by former TRT World and now DAZN journalist Bruno Bottaro.

But the true meat and potatoes of this episode lies in the foreign limit debate, because as you may or may not know the return of said dreaded limit is a real possibility. We look at several interesting quotes from the likes of Semih Kaya, Selçuk Sahin, Servet Cetin, Baris Yardimci and Batuhan Karadeniz in favour of a foreign limit. While Kaan, Bruno, Burak and Özer will do their best to convince you otherwise.

Bruno in particular gives us his keen insights on why Turkey should not implement a foreign limit and how that could put a halt on the momentum the league has been gaining in recent years.

Bruno also gives us a potential breaking news story, as he reveals that DAZN Japan has picked up the Turkish Süper Lig rights for the next 3 seasons (Shinji Kagawa effect?).

In this week's episode of Football á la Turca we're giving you a very special episode in which our hosts Burak Sezgin, Özer Dindjer and Kaan Bayazit will discuss their favourite all time elevens of players they've actually watched play live. That excludes "legends" like Hakki Yeten, Metin Oktay, Lefter, etc. In addition Umut Naderi joins us at the end to introduce himself to everyone, as he will be replacing Özer next week while the latter is preoccupied in London. Pat cox will also be returning next week, he'll be stepping in for Burak who will be on a pro wrestling tour of New York City, as he'll be attending WWE's Wrestlemania 35, Monday Night Raw and, NXT(?) and the ROH/NJPW show as well.

We also opted to leave in Kaan's dog's cameo in the episode, as she decided to steal his spot in the couch while Kaan went for a quick bio break. (WARNING: there may be some obscene language used in that particular excahnge between Kaan and his dog)

Football á la Turca - S1E12 (May 7th 2019) Turkish Süper Lig MD31 results including the Galatasaray vs. Besiktas derby

The Turkish Süper Lig continues to grow more exciting by the week, the battle for second please seems to have been fought, as Galatasaray beat Besiktas at Türk Telekom Arena, which almost certainly guarantees them a top two finish. Basaksehir once again stumble, meaning Galatasaray overtake them at the top of the table for the first time since matchday 9, on goal differential.

Elsewhere Göztepe get another big win, over 5th placed Antalyaspor, moving them out of the relegation zone, at least for now. While Erzurumspor deal Bursaspor a massive blow in their hopes of avoiding relegation.

FALT NEWS - Ankaragücü financial difficulties update /w Nadeem Raja

Breaking news update on the situation at Ankaragücü, concerning a developing story related to the club's financial issues with unpaid wages. Two players have terminated their contracts while former player Michael Klukowski has notified the club through his lawyer that he has gone to FIFA regarding his owed wages. There is even talk of a six point deduction for next season.

In this week's episode we spoke about Yeni Malatyaspor's first adventure in the UEFA Europa League, their potential opponents in the next round should they qualify. Trabzonspor's opponent in the Europa League and Basaksehir's opponent in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

Additional news items include beIN SPORTS's dispute with the TFF and the club Union over the TV Rights contract, Trabzonspor's appeal over the 2010-2011 Süper Lig season being rejected by CAS and Trabzonspor's new sponsorship deal.

Turkey played two crucial quailfiers during this international break, getting a narrow 1-0 win over European minnows Andorra and a convincing 4-0 win on the road against Moldova keeping them top of qualification GROUP H on level points with World Champions France.

Football à la Turca are back with their Turkish Süper Lig coverage coming out of the international break! Özer Dindjer makes his return to the show after he had been loaned out to TRT World for the past couple of weeks, Umut Naderi and Yakup Marufoglu also join Kaan Bayazit this week to discuss the latest happenings in the Turkish top flight with 'Man of the Law' Burak Sezgin being absent due to travelling conflicts.

In this week's episode we focus on the matchday 12 results of the 2019/2020 season, with Galatasaray suffering their first home defeat in the league since May 6th 2017 (1-3 vs. Kasimpasa), at the hands of Okan Buruk's Istanbul Basaksehir. Trabzonpor, Sivasspor and Besiktas all book wins at the top of the table, while Alanyaspor suffer a surprising home defeat and Fenerbahçe are halted to a draw in Malatya. Meanwhile at the bottom of the table Gençlerbirligi gain 3 valuable points, just like Denizlispor who managed to see off Caykur Rizespor at home.

It's been an incredible week of Turkish football with two amazing matches in their own right, first up the Besiktas vs. Trabzonspor 'cracker' lived up to it's name as it turned out to be a true spectale while the Intercontinental derby (Fenerbahçe vs. Galatasaray) was a spectacle in it's own right, with plenty of cards for both sides, penalties and an historic result! In these two matchdays the title race has seemingly been decided, with Trabzonspor dropping two precious points at home against Antalyaspor, while rivals Basaksehir continue their winning ways. The relegation battle and the race for the third place on the other hand continue to become more interesting by each passing matchday.

Alanyaspor and Sivasspor head to the Europa League and Galatasaray are most likely out of contention for Europe, unless Trabzonspor's ban is upheld and Alanyaspor win the Turkish cup.

Turkish football is back and so is the Football à la Turca podcast! The 2020-2021 season has officially kicked off with Rizespor - Fenerbahçe on friday, the Canaries came out on top of to start their season with 3 points. Reigning champions Istanbul Basaksehir closed the matchday on Monday by suffering a surprise defeat at the hands of newly promoted Hatayspor (who made their Süper Lig debuts). Sandwiched in between those two games we're a plethora of other results, with Galatasaray winning their opening match at home against Gaziantep while Besiktas got 3 points on the road against last season's runners-up: Trabzonspor. Who were left without last season's topscorer, Alexander Sörloth, as the Norwegian is trying to push through a move to RB Leipzig. Plenty to talk about, including a washilist of transfers!
