For his rotational pick, Ryan chose the 2 volumes containing all 10 issues of the abbreviated Doctor Doom run. The comic really sings for the boys when it's about Doom and Kang, the strength of the story. There are other elements that reek of being hurt from cancellation. Overall, there's a lot of things to enjoy about what the run was trying to do with Doom and they get into all of it. For his rotational pick, Sparkz has brought 20th Century Men written by Deniz Camop, with art by Stipan Morian and lettering by Aditya Bidikar. This dense, 6 issue miniseries published by Image Comics is rich with commentary on war and the people who suffer at the location of its battles. The story paints an alternate history of a super-powered up WWIII originating around the Soviet presence in Afghansitan during the 1980s. We follow unexpected characters and are given complex and researched perspectives on what war does to a place and the people who live there. It's a gorgeous and rich text Sparkz will highly recommend you check out. We had a really great discussion come out of this, so we hope you enjoy it as well!

For his rotational pick, Brandon has brought S.H.I.E.L.D. Volume 1: Architects of Forever written by Jonathan Hickman, with art by Dustin Weaver. This covers the first 6 issues of Hickman's 2010 series that reveals the origins of S.H.I.E.L.D.! The guys get into the strengths of the series and where it doesn't quite grab some of them for the 6 issues given. There is massive praise for Weaver's art throughout and for Hickman's knack for grand storytelling, even when the end-piece can be a bit messy. For his rotational pick, Ryan has brought Ultimate Comics: The Ultimates Volume 1 - The Republic is Burning written by Jonathan Hickman, with art by Esad Ribic. This covers the first 6 issues of Hickman's relaunch for the series that tied-in with a title wide relaunch in 2011. The guys get into their history with the Ultimate universe, where this story finds that universe after the death of Peter Parker, how Hickman used elements here as testing ground for later efforts with Marvel, and the strong work that comes from him teaming with Ribic for art. There's a lot to say about this time in comics, this creator, and the story itself. We had a blast reading and discussing, so we hope you enjoy it as well!
