You may know the singer-songwriter JP Saxe for a song called "If the World Was Ending," a collaboration with Julia Michaels that became an anthem for the pandemic era. Or you may be a true fan, in love with the intimacy, candor, and soulfulness that permeate his entire catalog. But even if you don't know his name, you probably know his work. He's co-written hits with a wide range of artists, from John Mayer and Finneas to Maren Morris and Nick Jonas.

When he sat down with Jason, the two discussed his path to the career he has today, some complex family experiences that helped shape his emotional intuitions, and the convictions that have compelled him to speak publicly about the issues he cares about. David Popa

For a decade now, the artist David Popa has been trekking to remote (and sometimes dangerous) places to create massive ephemeral frescoes on land and ice. As a filmmaker, he captures these creative journeys so that others can feel the haunted and hopeful spirit expressed in these works of art. He has collaborated with brands like Adidas, transformed a UNESCO World Heritage site in Saudi Arabia into a canvas, and been featured in programs on Apple TV. But before all of that, he was the son of a legendary graffiti writer in New York City, and he had to find his own way beyond the passions of his father and the constraints of conventional art.
