21 May 2020, My brother-in-law passed away, gone too soon at 38, and I can’t be there for my sister and Family in the Philippines because I am in Singapore. His life was taken away by someone else! Mixed emotions …. 22 May is my mother’s 76th birthday but instead of celebrating her birthday, we are mourning, my sisters had to prepare for my brother-in-law’s funeral and burial. Cliff, left his wife and 3 children just like that! Death is really like a thief in the night you’ll never know when it will attack and no one is really ever prepared for it. How you lived your life?

For OFWs, if something happen in the Philippines, all we could do is cry for our family, send financial support, and everything else is detached and heart breaking. It’s different to be by your family’s side to comfort them and be truly present with them. 
 
When my father passed away many years ago due to heart attack and stroke, I couldn’t be there at his hospital bed-side it was my best friend Angie who put the cellphone near his ear and I spoke to my father over the phone hoping that he will still be able to hear my voice eventhough he was already in comma. We didn’t have a great father and daughter relationship after he came back for good to the Philippines from working as electrician in Saipan & Guam for 6 years. He can’t work overseas anymore due to enlargement of his heart. I was 12 yrs old that time. In the Philippines most of his projects are provincial so we seldom see him also. When he’s at home, he doesn’t like noise. Imagine watching a comedy show and he would stop us from laughing out loud. No wonder all my emotions are suppressed, my friends used to say that I have a tough expression, those who just met me, had this first impression that I’m snob or un-approachable, that I’m too quiet, etc. But of course after spending time with each other and once they get to know me, we definitely become long term friends and it’s very deep friendship.

As parent we all have dreams to be the best parent we could ever be an improved version of our parents. We learn from our parents stories and breakthroughs. 
 
I, have a 21 years old son, his name is Paulo Jhimmel, a graduate of Business IT in Singapore Polytecnic and serving the army, I have 14 years old daughter, her name is Jade. Paulo named his sister after Jackie Chan’s niece Jade in the cartoon series. 
 
How to be a good parent? Raising a child … Raising children, my mother-in-law has 8!!! My husband is the 2nd son. My mother has 3 daughters (excluding) my still born brother 
 
Every CHILD is A GIFT a Blessing from God 
 
I have lots of Fears due to the vicious cycle of victims of victims and that I won’t be a good mother to my children. Or that I would do the things my parents do to my children. But my love for children exceeds everything else. I praise and the Lord for blessing me with a son, I knew right then and there that I’m gonna be having a son. I felt like Mama Mary when she got the dream and vision that she will have to bear Jesus the Savior. And when she said “Fiat, be it done unto me according to Your word”. Being a Mother is really the toughest job of all. And just carrying the child for 9 months is already tough enough. I had a very difficult pregnancy, not able to eat, I survived the 1st 3 months with skyflakes and instant noodles, the rest of the food got this fishy smell that I can’t take, I was hospitalized for low hemoglobin, etc 
 
My son was already 6 years old when we received another blessing, and this time I also knew and felt that for my 2nd child, I’m gonna have a daughter. It was a different pregnancy experience, at 7 months I hiked and trailed McRitchie Tree Top Hill. 
 
The parents’ responsibility setting a good example a role model on how to overcome challenges ...

They can be things like mowing the lawn, doing the dishes, or getting up in the middle of the night to take care of the little one, letting you sleep.

EPISODE 8 - LOVE IS A DECISION 
Welcome to DREAM TO SHINE show. I'm Loreta and in this episode, let’s talk about LOVE IS A DECISION (married life)… 
 
When we were young, we’re often asked “What is your Ideal Man or Ideal Woman?” 
We’ll I watched this old Tagalog movie, where the lead star is collecting photos of her ideal guy from a magazine and pasting the parts into a blank sheet of paper. She cut the eyes of one guy, then the nose, the mouth etc until she formed her ideal guy, and the guy actually appeared in real life and they lived happily ever after. What I’m trying to point out is that we had to set our ideal partner and clearly specify the features and qualities. For my case, I wanted a smart, tall, good-looking guy with a good-sense of humor and can make me laugh. And I prayed over my partner. 
 
We live in the same village but different barangay. We met at the choir, he was bass and I’m alto. We started as friends, we have a lot of things in common. We clicked! We had chemistry. We’re both proud and sometimes boastful. We both have big dreams which is to graduate and get a good paying job. However, our romance lasted for a year only and we parted ways. But after 5 years, we bumped into each other in a jeepney and took the same bus since we’re both heading the same way. He’s heading to Laguna and I’m heading to Makati. So, we started to re-connect and hang out with friends and they started teasing us again. And I went to Singapore and he followed. 
 
Falling in love is easy. Staying in love—that’s the challenge! How can you keep your relationship fresh and growing amidst the demands, conflicts, and just plain boredom of everyday life? With children 
 
There is no school or class teaching us about relationships especially marriage 
 
 
It’s true that once you and your partner lives under 1 roof, you will start to figure out to learn more about each other and each one will press a button that may trigger something that will cause a lot of negativities. In the beginning of your relationship, you are counting the many ways, of “how do I love thee”, but after getting married, you “Start to count ways of how you get into each other’s nerves.” 
 
After 3 years of marriage, we attended Marriage Encounter Weekend, right after our long CNY trip to KL, Genting and JB.

Any kind of relationship must be 2-way, give and take, like dancing cha-cha 
With new insight you have the added wisdom and power to change your approach rather than seeking to change your partner. 
 
Many times a woman just wants to share her feelings about her day, and her husband, thinking he is helping, interrupts her by offering a steady flow of solutions to her problems. 
 
When a man invalidates a woman’s feelings …

Remember this >>> We can’t take someone we have never been! We have to be there, we have to experience it, only then can we take or lead someone to be where they wanted to be. 

- From Oneself to Family to Community to Nation and World

- I’ve learned about the scale and depth of a leader and have experienced it too.

I came to realize that human beings are truly selfish always focusing on Oneself, the what’s in it for me mentality, that if we don’t get anything out of it, we won’t participate, we won’t join, we won’t support. 

As long as we don’t CONQUER ONESELF, or ourself, we will not be able to get out of our inner world and expand our outer world. We are like TAKERS and challenged to be GIVERS. 

Perhaps because I am the eldest daughter that’s why I was compelled and forced to be GIVER to forget about myself and take care of my siblings and others. But if this is the case, neglecting oneself will also leave a hole that needs to be filled. And so, I started chasing dreams for myself. I focused on the “ONESELF” zone. That’s why it’s really important to constantly keep on growing and learning by attending personal development seminars.

Last Sep 2019, when I attended Start At The Top seminar of Industry Rockstar Kane Mincus, I signed up for his Global Messenger program

I heard Kane’s call, where are my FEMALE SPEAKERS, I remembered I completed Toastmaster’s competent communicator and leader program.

Story 2

Last Oct 2019, I attended Kim Kiyosaki’s Rich Woman seminar and Genecia Alluora, founder of Soul Rich Woman was one of the speaker, a former Miss Singapore, right then and there I knew in my mind, heart and spirit that she is the Mentor that I’ve been waiting for. I signed up Soul Rich Woman Blueprint program and I got clarity in setting up my own freedom business and found my fish! And when I heard about the next program which is Instant Podcast Leadership, my heart skipped and I was already imagining myself having my own podcast show.  I keep screaming repeatedly, “I want to be a Podcast Leader!” 

Story 3

Last Dec 2019, while attending a 4-days Never Work Again seminar, I finally realized MY BIGGEST WHY THAT MADE ME CRY.  And whatever I learned in all the seminars I attended I want to share as a global messenger as a podcaster.

Welcome to DREAM TO SHINE show. I'm Loreta and in this episode, I will be sharing with you my journey in getting my driving licenses in Singapore. I know some of you will be able to relate.
In this show I will connect this driving experience with SETTING DIRECTION to get from point A to point B. In previous episodes we talked about DREAMS and SETTING GOALS. But how to achieve it depends on GETTING THE RIGHT VEHICLE and SETTING THE RIGHT DIRECTION
Personally I find it very difficult to pass driving license in Singapore. 

My husband Rommel drives motorbike, that’s his passion. I was inspired to take motorcycle license, because when our son who was 3 years old back then will always be the last student to be fetched from the child-care center within the same housing estate, and most of the time the teacher-assistant will take him home coz it’s past 7pm so we will fetch our son there. Our workplace is about more than an hour commute to reach home. If I take taxi everyday it’s gonna be very costly.

So, I took class 2B course. There’s 5 circuit lessons and 3 road lessons. Each lesson depends on how well I do and pass …
Lesson 1 – day 1, seemed ok, my challenge is I have to tip toe coz I’m height-challenged ^_^. But I managed to complete, Day 2, the instructor must have seen me struggling called me and drew a shoe with thick sole, told me to buy them and I did. Here comes the challenge it’s already my 8th try and I still haven’t pass lesson 1, I said Lord if I can’t pass today, this is not for me I will give up. Guess what?!!! I PASSED! So I had to go through the finish line no matter what! 

So I completed circuit and road lessons. Now time to take Traffic Police test, We’ll it’s not easy to pass, there are many tasks to complete and handle at the same time …ex. To turn and check back blind spots while trying to balance the bike, remember my height-challenge so the bike is wobbly, + I’m sweating so much not sure if this is due to the hot weather or because I’m scared or worried about the demerit pts I’ll get in order to pass. The more pts, the less chance of passing 

In Philippines they say it’s very easy to get a drivers license to the point that even a blind person can get a license, well I don’t know if that’s true Just for the sake of comparison. I have not driven in the Philippines yet. So I passed my TP test on the 4th attempt. That’s why I really value my driver’s license coz of the hardships I had to go through.

After getting my Class 2B license, I did not stop as my ultimate goal since young is to drive a car. Same challenges. I will share the TP test story, first attempt failed coz I’m not confident enough. 2nd attempt failed again due to heavy rain I can’t do parallel and reverse parking due to poor visibility. I finally passed on the 3rd attempt. Thanked the Traffic Police uncle I was soooo grateful I almost hugged him … 

That sweet feeling when you pass any test and achieve your goals! 

Lessons learned here is I get to experience both being a motorcycle and motorcar driver. Different vehicle, different perspective, different blind spots. 

With motorbike, rider is exposed no cover but I can weave in and out of traffic, in between 2 lanes and 2 vehicles. When it’s raining better to drive motorcar and you can drive with your family or friends. With motorcycle you can only have 1 pillion rider. 

This journey is similar in LIFE, you set a goal to reach, to go from point A to point B. You have a choice which mode of transportation to take, public or private? 
• If public: bus, train, anything … 
• If it’s private, which vehicle to drive? Will you drive or someone else will drive for you?

So you have selected the vehicle to use. Need to set direction, use google maps. You can choose which route to take or how fast you want to reach point B which is your goal.

This principle can be applied to life, it’s up to us to tweak here and there.
Bottom line it’s all about choice.

When you’re already driving, and have gotten lost due to road blocks or missed a turn, there’s a RECENTER button in any MAPS mobile apps. Press it to re-route then continue with the journey. Same with our life, we may have been distracted but if our PURPOSE is very clear, just RECENTER and drive yourself towards the DREAM you want to achieve

So we set dreams or goals, we set direction, and took action and reached our destination. Btw it’s also a good habit to CELEBRATE WINS no matter how small or big your achievement, IT KEEPS US GOING.  

Another lessons I want to share is sometimes we are not equipped to reach our destination, we don’t have our own vehicle or we don’t have a driver’s license so we need someone else to drive for us. Same thing with Personal Development or Business . We need a mentor or coach to guide us and lead us to the right direction in order for us to reach our destination. 

I’m truly grateful to my Family and Friends, Success Resources, FRICH REVOLUTION Advocacy and Soul Rich Woman mentorship and instant podcast leader program, another dream of mine has been fulfilled to reach out to people by sharing my voice and message through podcast. I am astonished of how fast it’s launched, it’s lightning speed and I’m now on Spotify and other podcast platform!!!

In this show I will discuss about overcoming self limiting beliefs, letting go and fulfilling your dreams one step at a time.

Have you ever felt that while pursuing your dreams and goals there’s this force trying to stop or pull you down in every which way possible,… and you can’t …. even take 1 step closer to your dream???

Limiting beliefs prevents and restrains us from achieving our dreams and full potentials.

Well, I have experienced that several times. Whenever I want to pursue something, there will always be hurdles and challenges. 

I remember hearing voices:
• You can’t do that! It’s shameful!
• You’re too short! You can’t reach it!
• You have no money!
• You have no resources! 
• You’re not good enough!
• You should have been a boy!
• It’s a waste of time and energy!
• And too many limiting beliefs to mention …. 

Along the way, I’ve learned:
• To be aware that limiting beliefs exist so I acknowledge it
• Let go of all the limiting beliefs and don’t hold on to it 
• Let go of all the excess baggages. TRAVEL LIGHT in this journey called LIFE. 

If we focus on self-limiting beliefs, we will not be able to achieve our dreams. So once again LET IT GO.

As I shared in the first episode, determination and perseverance to GO THROUGH THE FINISH LINE ie finish what you’ve started is the KEY TO SUCCEED and SHINE. 

I’ve learned from T. Harv Eker of MMI, the process of manifestation:
Thoughts leads to feelings that leads to action equals RESULTS. 
What is the result we want to achieve? 
Assess our thoughts, is it negative or positive?
Is the feeling associated with our thoughts negative or positive? 
ACTION will depend on the thoughts and feelings
RESULTS will depend on the ACTION TAKEN in response to the thoughts and feelings. 
The choice is ours

SO LET’S BE POSITIVE ALWAYS and CELEBRATE WINS. 

I love to read books, and once I read and loved a particular book, the lessons learned and the wisdom of the author stays with me. I’ll write it down, memorize it, until it registers into my innermost being. ^_^

I like to share 2 books that are close to my heart …
1. The Little Prince – you are responsible for what you tame for. 
My takeaway - I am responsible for myself, I am taming myself by trying to make the right choice and taking action and make a difference not just to myself but to others. 

2. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, After MMI, this book helped me break some of my self-limiting beliefs. 
Rich Dad Poor Dad is about Robert Kiyosaki and his two dads—his real father (poor dad) and the father of his best friend (rich dad)—and the ways in which both men shaped his thoughts about money and investing….
Imagine this scenario at a convenient store where a 5 yr old child would ask his father for a toy, but the poor dad would say “we can’t afford it. We’re here to buy food.” (that’s it, full stop, the child may cry but nothing will happen. Not even a promise of next time tsk tsk tsk That child may grow up thinking I can’t have what I want, But there are some who might overcome but the RICH DAD would say “How can we afford it?” This scenario gives the child HOPE and may think of ways to earn money to be able to buy the toy next time … When we ask how, we will surely find a way, no matter what! If there’s a will, there’s a way. The universe will supply what you need. Just believe.

I have always been a go-getter, once I set my mind and heart into something, I’ll make sure I will get it.  
Another way how I managed to overcome my self-limiting beliefs are telling myself the following:
• I was formed in the image of God there is nothing that I cannot achieve if I try. 
• I am fearfully and wonderfully made, knitted and formed in my mother’s womb. 
• I am special. I am a GIFT. I am destined for greatness! 

The good thing about having a FRICH mindset is that I’ve learned to ignore and let go! Then move on... Btw, FRICH is a coined word FREE +RICH by our Filipino FRICH Mentor Terence and Tet Lim with a mission to Empower All Filipinos worldwide to be FREE and RICH.  

Having a Rich Dad and A Millionaire Mind to be Free and Rich helped me conquer and overcome every challenges that comes my way. 

One of my anchor verse is >>> “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” for there are times, I am weak and I would give excuses and give up. I will RECOVER … Then go back to my goals and fulfil my dreams.

We all have to do some self-talk and convince ourselves that WE CAN DO ANYTHING and OVERCOME Everything.

WHAT WE FOCUS ON EXPANDS. 
Focus on lack and you won’t have any. 
Focus on abundance, surely there will be OVERFLOW and you will have more than enough. 

WHATEVER THE MIND CAN CONCEIVE AND BELIEVE, IT CAN ACHIEVE.

So how to overcome self-limiting beliefs? JUST LET IT GO. 

You are born to be GREAT
You are born to SUCCEED and SHINE

THINK AND GROW RICH. BE FREE AND RICH in all areas and aspects of your life. 

I hope my story will inspire you to let go of all your self limiting beliefts and do something that is close to your heart and achieve your dreams in 2020.

EPISODE 1
Welcome to DREAM TO SHINE show. I'm Loreta and in this episode, I will be sharing with you my personal story.
In this show I will discuss about overcoming challenges, getting out of your comfort zone and the importance of fulfilling your dreams one step at a time.

I grew up in a small village (or kampong) in the Philippines called PANGARAP which means DREAM. I’m the eldest daughter, I have 2 sisters and I’m supposed to have a younger brother but he didn’t make it and went to heaven when I was 3 yrs old. 

My mother worked part time and active in the community and church services. There will always be events and feast in our village. Life was amazing in Pangarap Village. Everyone is like a Family and very close. My Mom is very supportive, whenever I have some activities at school or I was chosen to participate in contests within school or division, whether to recite a poem, declamation, sing or dance, she will guide me. My mom will help me practice and memorize my lines, she loves to sing and dance, so I got these talents from her. 

I studied primary and secondary course in this village and attend church and community events. The only time we leave the village is to buy things from the nearest town. Good thing there was no university there, or I wouldn’t have the chance to get my college degree in the City of Manila. ^_^ I would be stuck there

I have a BIG DREAM which is to become a Manager someday, that’s why I study hard and excel at school. My father (who has already passed on) lost his parents when he was in 9 yrs old and was forced to work as Electrician at such a young and tender age. He was the first generation of OFW in my family not knowing that I would follow his footsteps taking over his roles and responsibilities, to provide for my family and in order to achieve my big dreams. I was 7 years old when he left for Saipan. After 6 years, he came back for good because of his heart condition. 

I was not used to having a father around and I got the impression that he prefers a son, so I had to work very hard to prove to him that I can also do what boys can do. Since I’m the eldest my father would ask me to assist him, whether it’s to build our house, dig well and he even sent me 25 ft down to clean. During school holidays I would assist my father in the construction project and I’m the only girl in that group. Somehow my feminine side to be fabulous was not develop quite well. 

Since I’m the eldest I have no choice but to mature ahead of my time and be responsible for my sisters as my parents work. 

Fast forward, I graduated high school and college with a Bachelors degree in Information Technology with flying colors, worked for a few years in Manila and Cebu and had a opportunity to work in National University Hospital in Singapore. 

I came to Singapore in 1997 and my then-BF who is also from Pangarap Village, followed. We started our own Family. We have 2 children, our eldest son is now serving the army and our daughter is secondary 3.  

I wear multiple hats and had to juggle multiple roles for my family in Singapore and back in the Philippines. Unfortunately I was not a superwoman and after 13 years I reached my limit and was burnt out. 

In 2010, I was at a crossroad and while searching for a change … a friend invited me to attend the Free Millionaire Mind Intensive Training, and that’s where the next phase of my life began. I had to take the road less travelled. In 2011, I was invited to join the FRICH REVOLUTION ADVOCACY. It resonated with what I want to do after attending MMI and to fulfil new dreams which is to be FREE and RICH and leave a LEGACY for my children so that I will be the last OFW in my family and my children as well as the next generation in our Family will not experience the rich now poor later cycle. 

I was doing well in this advocacy but I became complacent and went back to my comfort zone. I did not set new dreams and goals for myself and for 2 years got stuck in a rat race again. 

My FRICH Mentors did not give up on me, so I still attend major and empowering events. I attended empowering seminars and workshops again from Success Resources and that’s when I met Genecia Alloura of Soul Rich Woman. Part of Soul Rich Woman mission is to Empower Women, I said to myself she is the Mentor that I am looking for. And here I am fulfilling another dream of becoming one of the Fabulous Filipina podcast leaders.

As I was preparing my contents, I remembered a vivid scene where my seed of podcasting was sown.

My mom was listening to the radio, the only source of entertainment that time as we don't have a Television yet back then. She won a contest from the Dambuhalang DJ program. So we went to the radio station and I saw radio broadcasters and some child actors too. At the back of my mind, I'm thinking I want to be like them. But my radio and showbiz career did not push through :-) That was like a long lost dream that is coming true right now!!! Thanks to SOUL RICH WOMAN and FRICH REVOLUTION ADVOCACY, a platform where I can be the best version of myself EVERYDAY.

"For me everything starts from a dream, whether it's a small dream or an impossible dream. Along the way I've learned that I AM Possible. With dreams or goals to PURSUE, I take actions and generate RESULTS. And with God All Things Are Possible.

We all have a choice whether to pursue a dream or not. Whether to set a small or big dream. Let’s reflect on what results we want to achieve. Is it just a small result just to get by or is it a MASSIVE RESULT.

Small dream will lead to small results
BIG DREAMS WILL LEAD TO BIG RESULTS

And when our purpose is compelling enough, we will pursue our dreams and goals and do whatever it takes to achieve it. PERSEVERANCE AND DETERMINATION TO SUCCEED are the key things to ACHIEVE OUR DREAMS.

HOW WE DO ANYTHING IS HOW WE DO EVERYTHING.

WHAT WE FOCUS ON EXPANDS.

WHATEVER THE MIND CAN CONCEIVE AND BELIEVE, IT CAN ACHIEVE.

In setting our dreams and goals, and as our teachers taught us to use SMART, ie Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic and Timebound. And if we want to stretch ourselves to achieve our full potential, we have to SET UNREASONABLE EXPECTATIONS. 

I hope my story will inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and do something that is close to your heart and achieve your dreams in 2020.
