Donald Trump faces more than 30 counts related to business fraud in an indictment from a Manhattan grand jury, according to two sources familiar with the case – the first time in American history that a current or former president has faced criminal charges.

Trump is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

The indictment has been filed under seal and will be announced in the coming days. The charges are not publicly known at this time.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has been investigating the former president in connection with his alleged role in a hush money payment scheme and cover-up involving adult film star Stormy Daniels that dates to the 2016 presidential election. Grand jury proceedings are secret, but a source familiar with the case told CNN that a witness gave about 30 minutes of testimony before it voted to indict Trump

Voters under 30 were decisive in Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto’s win in Nevada -- which officially secured the party’s hold on the chamber. And Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock might not have been able to force a December runoff against Republican challenger Herschel Walker without them.

While midterm elections often see the incumbent president's party lose a significant number of seats in Congress,[5] preliminary results instead saw Democratic Party candidates dramatically overperform these historical trends.[6][7][8] Meanwhile, Republican Party candidates that were backed by Donald Trump or that denied the results of the 2020 U.S. presidential election underperformed compared to election analysts' predictions of a more Republican-leaning national environment and Republican expectations.[1][2] Both general turnout and among young voters (18–29) was the second-highest (after 2018) of any midterm since 1970.[9][10]

Issues that favored Democrats included significant concern over extremism and a lack of respect for democratic norms among Republicans, along with abortion rights and a potential Trump 2024 presidential campaign.[3][4][11] The elections continued trends starting in 2012, in which Republicans made gains among the working-class, especially whites but since 2016 also working-class minorities like Hispanics,[12] while Democrats continued to improve among affluent and college-educated whites.[2]

John Henry Chubb, along with his wife, daughter and eight sons were originally in North Carolina. Kenneth Jones, another descendent of the Chubbtown founders, researched the family’s history and found that the 1830 census listed Chubbs living as free blacks in North Carolina. The Chubbs and other free blacks journeyed to Georgia and settled near a creek in the northwest corner of the state sometime between 1850 and 1864.

According to records of Floyd County, where Chubbtown is located, Henry Chub (spelled with one b), one of the original eight sons, purchased 120 acres for $900 in 1864, before the end of the Civil War.

The settlement grew to include a church, school, post office, meeting hall and a lodge. It also had businesses such as a saw mill, cotton gin, wagon company, blacksmith, grist mill, syrup mill and a company that made caskets. The settlers farmed the land and were self-sufficient.

During the Post-Reconstruction period the Chubb brothers continued purchasing real estate to become the self-sufficient community known as Chubbtown. The Chubb family remained and prospered in Floyd County, Georgia, while many southern blacks were seeking prosperity in the north. The town was spared destruction by the Union Army during the Civil War.[5] The family's prosperity declined after 1916 when a devastating flood destroyed

A Facebook post shared tens of thousands of times since 2019, and recently viral, claims that in only a decade, Venezuela's once thriving economy was crippled by socialism. 

The post, which shows a photo of Venezuela on a map, claims that 60 years ago the South American nation was twice as rich as China and four times as rich as Japan. It says it had the fourth wealthiest economy in the world and the most thriving country in Latin America. 

It further claims that Venezuela's currency was the worth the most, second only to the U.S. dollar. It also says it had a thriving health care system.

But all of that was washed away in only a decade due to socialism, the post first shared by Facebook user Katharine Trauger says. She didn't respond to a message seeking comment on where she found her information about Venezuela.

After a Russian court sentenced WNBA star Brittney Griner to nine years in prison for a drug smuggling conviction on Thursday, the player's supporters, teammates and numerous US officials swiftly condemned the decision, many concerned that her detention is being used to advance Russia's agenda in the Ukraine war.

Now, Griner has returned to the detention center where she was held during her weeks-long trial as her lawyers vow to appeal the sentence and the Biden administration attempts to negotiate for her release.

U.S. gasoline prices jumped from $1.37 to $2.37 per gallon in 2005 as the price of a barrel averaged about $60.
In 2008, oil prices rose to as high as $145 per barrel causing a search for alternate sources, and gas at the pump hit as high as $3.90 national average. By 2012, less than half the US oil consumption was imported, which took place under Obama, and in January 2015 decreased to around $50 per barrel gasoline fell to about $2.43 and then to a 20 year low of $2.14 in 2016, and have risen slightly since. After Trump took office in 2017, prices increased slowly, hitting $2.99 in May 2018 against a barrel cost of $74. After a slight dip in 2019, (oil companies made about $55 billion that year) prices fell sharply early in the COVID 19 pandemic, which of course was orchestrated by this podcast and our boss, George Soros, but raised quickly by may and increased steadily since then. When Biden was sworn in, the price per barrel of crude oil was $ 55, and the price at the pump was about $3 per gallon.

But now, it’s the past, although it certainly seems to be still an ongoing campaign. But lets look at it, starting with outlining the events preceding the DNC convention.

Bernie built a coalition with a populist movement centered around workers rights, healthcare, raising the minimum wage and not accepting money from most PACs.  The primary turned out to be more competitive than expected, with Clinton winning 55% to Sander’s 43%, and the races early in the primary were much closer, with Sanders leading at times. After losing California, The Sanders campaign released a video statement on June 16 and announced that Sanders looked forward to helping Clinton defeat Trump, officially endorsing her on July 12.

Ahead of the release of the “Star Wars” film “Rogue One,” Disney chief executive Bob Iger made an emphatic claim when asked about the movie’s message: “Frankly, this is a film that the world should enjoy. It is not a film that is, in any way, a political film,” he told the Hollywood Reporter, speaking about what was then the latest addition to the sprawling sci-fi saga. “There are no political statements in it, at all.”

Iger was reacting to controversy over (quickly deleted) tweets from two of the film’s writers. Chris Weitz had observed that the series’ Galactic Empire represented “a white supremacist organization.” It was “opposed,” commented his colleague Gary Whitta, “by a multicultural group led by brave women.” Just weeks after the election of President Trump and the culmination of an acrimonious, racially charged political campaign, the film was hailed by some as “anti-Trumpian” — and subject to boycotts by irate members of the alt-right, a coterie of white nationalist who were upset about the film’s supposed liberal bent.

The visions of Washington, Du Bois, and Garvey all fell short of settling the future of black people in American society. In the mid-20th century, new leaders emerged to guide the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr. and others pursued a strategy of passive non-violence to overcome segregation in the South. Leaders of the NAACP, such as Thurgood Marshall, pushed forward legal cases to end segregation. Some took more militant stands. The Black Muslims led by Elijah Muhammad advocated separation. • Critics have taken to labeling mRNA vaccines a form of gene therapy, insinuating that the shots might somehow alter your DNA: They don’t. While the messenger RNA they employ is a type of genetic material, the vaccines differ from what is typically thought of as gene therapy in that they do not change the DNA inside cells. “They do not affect or interact with our DNA in any way,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains. • The Covid-19 mRNA vaccines are not gene therapy because they are not designed to alter or change your genes in any way. The U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) describes gene therapy as a technique that “may allow doctors to treat a disorder by inserting a gene into a patient’s cells instead of using drugs or surgery.” For example, doctors may be able to either inactivate or replace a mutated gene that isn’t functioning properly or place a new gene in your body that will do something to combat a disease.

  A gene consists of DNA and serves as the “basic physical and functional unit of heredity,” according to the NLM. Messenger RNA, known as mRNA for short, is different from DNA. RNA stands for ribonucleic acid. DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid. DNA serves as the library for instructions to produce different proteins. When a cell wants to produce a protein, it uses the DNA to produce a copy of mRNA. That mRNA then serves as a blueprint for the protein that is built by the ribosomes in your cells. The DNA is in the nucleus of the cell. The ribosomes are not. Thus, the mRNA from a Covid-19 vaccine will not go into the nucleus but instead will simply go to the ribosomes, which in turn will manufacture the spike protein.
