We aren't so far apart in this world and sharing our stories is both good and spiritual. </itunes:summary>

On a very simple and basic level, we are nature, we are not separate, we are all interconnected.
This is the single most important thing I have ever done. Period. My daughter shares her story with me, and you. From song to addiction to recovery to gastric bypass surgery to LIVING! Meet my hero, Mikalah Travis.

After you listen to this episode, watch/listen to this song she covered. It was my gift the morning of my first craniotomy. I listened to it for the first time since my surgery 3 years ago as I prepared this episode for release. If I could have put it at the end of the podcast, I would have. It moved me to tears to hear and see her at a time that was so pivotal in her freedom.
Trusting the deep Knowing within myself became key to healing from years of gaslighting abuse. Coming back to my body and trusting "her" as my ally was the work Dr. Hillary McBride, therapist, and author, did with me in my Year of Jess. Hillary holds sacred space in my heart. She is one of my beautiful healers. In this episode, we share how I found her and talk about the work and play we did in Tanzania Africa together. We talk about a topic she was strategic in helping me heal from...Gaslighting. This is the story of how embodiment was key to healing me from the trauma of gaslighting abuses. I hope that this episode brings you healing as well.

Dr. Hillary McBride is best known as co-host of the Liturgists podcast and host of the CBC podcast Other People’s Problems. But that work has only been possible with years of clinical practice as a counselor and research as a psychologist, a base of expertise that includes work at the intersection of spirituality and mental health, trauma and trauma therapies, body image, eating disorders, perinatal mental health, and the menopausal transition. Her first book, Mothers, Daughters, and Body Image: Learning to Love Ourselves as We Are, was published in 2017; she was the senior editor of a textbook which was released in 2018, Embodiment and Eating disorders: Theory, Research, Prevention, and Treatment, and her next book, The Wisdom of Your Body, will be out in 2021. She has been recognized by the American Psychological Association, and the Canadian Psychological Association for her research addressing our relationships with our bodies across the life span, and her work in feminist psychology. Hillary makes her home in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Mothers, Daughters, and Body Image: Learning to Love Ourselves as We Are

Make sure to subscribe to her podcast: Other People's Problems

We discuss a talk on Shame from The Liturgists Gathering in Seattle, October 2017. Click here to listen. You can find many healing and informative conversations on embodiment, spiritual trauma and faith throughout the seasons of The Liturgists Podcast.

Website: https://hillarylmcbride.com/

Coming back to my body and trusting "her" as my ally was the work Dr. Hillary McBride, therapist, and author, did with me in my Year of Jess. Hillary holds sacred space in my heart. She is one of my beautiful healers. In this episode, we share how I found her and talk about the work and play we did in Tanzania Africa together. We talk about a topic she was strategic in helping me heal from...Gaslighting. This is the story of how embodiment was key to healing me from the trauma of gaslighting abuses.

She has challenged me to take this quirky new body I have and make it my home.

Karly Borden's Bio:
I'm the coach and founder of The Public Run Club. I currently live in Santa Barbara, California, which is where I attended college, ran cross-country for my school, completed my first marathon, and where I began recovery from disordered eating and exercise compulsion. During this time, all of my treatment centered on establishing a new relationship with food, and exactly zero involved creating a new relationship with exercise. Over the next 12 years, through several types of therapy, personal study, and story-telling with peers, I worked towards health that not only tolerated movement but embraced it as an integral part of my wholeness. After coaching friends and family for years, I decided to put my own training front and center and became a certified RRCA coach in 2016 with the ultimate goal of creating a running club to help women proactively untangle from a complicated relationship with exercise and their bodies. We’re now a global group of women who are turning towards the stories of our bodies using running as our lens.
You can find Karly on Instagram at @thepublicrunclub, on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/thepublicrunclub/ and on her website at thepublicrunclub.com.

"The whole is real. Any division is conceptual." - Tom Myers. Trish Mack discusses how she helped heal my fragmented body after two brain surgeries. We are going to use big words like telocytes, tensegrity, and fascia. Trish refused to look at me as pieces and parts. She helped me learn how to listen to the language of my body so I could find wholeness. This is our story of connection.
Full resources and bio in full show notes.

Trish Mack received her Masters of Physical Therapy from Eastern Washington University (EWU) in 1998. She became a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist in 2002 and a Certified Manual Physical Therapist through the North American Institute of Manual Therapy in 2005. She has worked in the orthopedic outpatient setting in Spokane Washington for the past 19 years. She has worked in Sports Medicine for the past 10 years and specializes in runners, triathletes, and athletes of all ages from multiple sports.
