Christ in You

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 20 Sep 2026 06:00:00 -0400

Many Christians carry a quiet anxiety that they are missing something in their faith, always searching for the next book, conference, or spiritual technique to unlock a deeper level. But the book of Colossians cuts through that restlessness with a simple and profound truth. Before Christ, every person was alienated from God, not just by their actions, but by the very orientation of their heart and mind. Through His death on the cross, Jesus accomplished a complete reconciliation, presenting believers holy, blameless, and above reproach before God. The security of that salvation does not rest on our grip on faith but on Christ's grip on us. The great mystery that Paul reveals is not a hidden technique or advanced spiritual knowledge. It is Christ in you, living inside every person who comes to Him in faith. The gospel that brought you to Christ is the same gospel that carries you forward. You are not missing a secret. You have Christ.

The Wonderful One

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 13 Sep 2026 06:00:00 -0400

Jesus is far more than a kind teacher or a gentle historical figure. In Colossians 1, Paul presents Him as the image of the invisible God, the one through whom all things were created and in whom all things hold together. He is the head of the church, the fullness of God in human flesh, and the one who made peace through the blood of His cross. The creator of all things became the reconciler of all things, not by force, but through suffering and death. No philosophy, ritual, or spiritual experience can be added to Him, because nothing is missing. The one who holds the universe together is the same one who gave His life for you.

An Embarrassing Cameo

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 08 Feb 2026 05:00:00 -0500

The arrest of Jesus in Gethsemane reveals profound truths about betrayal and divine love. Judas used a kiss of affection to betray Jesus, showing how betrayal is most devastating when disguised as devotion. While Peter violently defended Jesus and the disciples fled in fear, Jesus remained in complete control, choosing to submit to arrest to fulfill Scripture. This scene demonstrates that our salvation doesn't depend on human faithfulness but entirely on Christ's unwavering resolve to walk willingly toward the cross for our sake.

The Cup

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 01 Feb 2026 05:00:00 -0500

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus experienced his most vulnerable moment, wrestling with unimaginable anguish before his crucifixion. The name Gethsemane means oil press, symbolizing how pressure produces something valuable. Jesus wasn't simply afraid of death - he was facing the cup of God's wrath against sin that he would drink on our behalf. After intense prayer and divine strengthening, Jesus rose with resolve to fulfill his Father's will. His sacrifice means believers never have to face God's condemnation, as Jesus absorbed the full punishment our sins deserved.

Grace at the Table

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 18 Jan 2026 05:00:00 -0500

The Last Supper reveals Jesus' profound love in the face of certain betrayal. During this sacred Passover meal, Jesus transformed a thousand-year-old tradition by declaring the bread and wine as His body and blood. He knew exactly who He was dining with - a betrayer, cowards who would flee, and followers who would deny Him. Yet to these very people, Jesus gave Himself completely. This demonstrates that Jesus doesn't wait for us to prove ourselves worthy before loving us. We are far more capable of betrayal than we think, but we are also far more loved than we could ever imagine.

Extravagant Devotion

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 11 Jan 2026 05:00:00 -0500

In the final week of Jesus' life, while religious leaders plotted his death, a woman performed an extraordinary act of devotion by breaking an expensive alabaster flask and pouring pure nard over Jesus' head. The disciples criticized her actions as wasteful, but Jesus defended her, calling it a beautiful thing. He revealed that she understood what others missed - that he was about to die and she wanted to express her love while she could. This story teaches us that extravagant devotion to Jesus only looks excessive until we truly understand who he is and what he has done for us.

God's Passion For The Fame of His Son

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 04 Jan 2026 05:00:00 -0500

The universe was created for Jesus Christ to showcase His glory, yet there are places where His name remains unknown. While common reasons for missions include eternal judgment, the Great Commission, and bringing joy, the ultimate reason runs deeper. Missions exist because worship does not - there are 7,200 unreached people groups where Jesus is not worshiped because He is not known. God's plan is for every knee to bow and every tongue to confess that Jesus is Lord. The earth will one day be filled with the knowledge of God's glory as waters cover the sea, and we can participate in this cosmic purpose.

Unashamed & Unafraid

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 05 Oct 2025 06:00:00 -0400

In a world obsessed with perfection, Jesus offers a liberating truth: you don't have to be impressive to be impactful. When Jesus called His ordinary followers 'the light of the world,' He wasn't recognizing their achievements but declaring their identity through Him. We are light not because of our performance but because Christ lives in us. Our effectiveness as witnesses doesn't depend on having perfect days or flawless lives. Instead, our very weaknesses can showcase God's strength. The gospel isn't about presenting our best selves but about pointing to the One who loves us despite our flaws.

Come Clean, Find Grace

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 21 Sep 2025 06:00:00 -0400

Discover the true heart of Christianity: hope for those who have already failed. While many think the Bible's message is about moral behavior, its deeper truth offers forgiveness and restoration to the broken. This message explores First John 1:9, revealing how honest confession opens the door to divine forgiveness. Learn why God is 'just' in forgiving sins through Christ's sacrifice, and why this redemptive pattern appears in our most beloved stories from literature and film. From Dickens to Shawshank Redemption, these narratives reflect our deep human need for someone to rescue us when we cannot save ourselves. The gospel offers this profound paradox: we are more deeply flawed than we dare admit, yet more loved in Christ than we ever dared hope. This message will challenge you to stop trying to earn approval and instead embrace the grace that transforms lives. Perfect for anyone struggling with perfectionism, guilt, shame, or wondering about Christianity's relevance to their broken places.

No More Hiding

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 14 Sep 2025 06:00:00 -0400

In this sermon titled 'Honest to God: Going from Hiding to Healing,' Pastor Greg explores Genesis 3, examining how Adam and Eve's sin led them to hide from God and cover their shame. The sermon highlights God's response to their sin - not abandonment but pursuit. God engages with Adam and Eve, asking questions He already knows the answers to, not for His benefit but for theirs, so they can face what they've done.

Pastor Greg emphasizes that God wants to heal the real us, not the versions of ourselves we project to others. He points out that in Genesis 3:15, we see the first reference to Jesus (the proto-evangelium) as the offspring of the woman who will crush the serpent's head. The sermon concludes with the powerful truth that God loves us exactly as we are, not some potential or preferred version of ourselves, and encourages honesty with God as the path to healing.

Only The Father Knows | Mark 13:32-37

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 24 Aug 2025 06:00:00 -0400

Jesus teaches us that no one knows the exact time of His return - not even Himself during His earthly ministry. Rather than obsessing over end-times calendars, we're called to spiritual vigilance and mission focus. Like a doorkeeper watching through the difficult night hours, we must guard against spiritual drift and autopilot living. Our responsibility isn't to speculate about when Christ will return but to fulfill our calling while there's still opportunity. Jesus redirects our attention from dates to duties, from timelines to testimony, reminding us to stay awake and alert in uncertain times.

No Stone Left

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 29 Jun 2025 06:00:00 -0400

Jesus shocked his disciples by predicting the complete destruction of Jerusalem's magnificent temple, challenging their misplaced trust in physical structures. This third temple, under construction for 50 years, represented the epicenter of Jewish faith and God's presence. Jesus' final exit from the temple symbolized his judgment on Israel's corrupt religious system. Like the ancient Israelites, we often place our security in modern 'temples' - financial stability, career success, possessions, health, and relationships - all of which can crumble instantly. True security comes only through placing our trust in Jesus Christ, who stands firm when everything else falls apart.

Faith in the Silence

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 02 Feb 2025 05:00:00 -0500

When God seems silent during times of suffering, it's crucial to understand that His silence doesn't equal absence. Like David in Psalm 22, we can maintain faith even while feeling forsaken. Jesus himself experienced this on the cross, demonstrating that God remains trustworthy even in moments of apparent absence. God continues working behind the scenes, much like seeds growing underground, orchestrating all things for the good of those who love Him.

Hope Beyond Suffering

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 26 Jan 2025 05:00:00 -0500

Life's darkest moments often lead us to question God's presence in our suffering. Jesus, through His incarnation, demonstrated His deep connection with humanity by fully participating in our human experience. He confronted death, our greatest fear, head-on and emerged victorious, providing a path to eternal life. Through His sacrifice, Jesus addressed the root cause of death - sin - and promises a future without tears, mourning, or pain. While acknowledging present suffering, we're called to support others with unconditional love while holding onto this eternal hope.

The Purpose of Suffering in God's Plan

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 19 Jan 2025 05:00:00 -0500

God's original design for creation was one of perfect harmony and flourishing, known as shalom. Suffering and death entered through sin, disrupting this divine plan. Our natural resistance to suffering reveals we're designed for something better. Through Jesus Christ, God offers hope and the promise of restored shalom, showing that while suffering proves the world is broken, it also points us to ultimate restoration.

Redefining Greatness

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 20 Oct 2024 06:00:00 -0400

Explore the profound teachings of Jesus in Mark 10, where He redefines greatness and leadership through the lens of servanthood and sacrifice. As Jesus leads His disciples to Jerusalem, He predicts His suffering and death, preparing them for the monumental events ahead. James and John's request for positions of honor reveals their misunderstanding of Jesus' mission, still thinking in terms of earthly power and prestige. Jesus contrasts the world's view of greatness with His own, teaching that true greatness in His kingdom is measured by one's willingness to serve others. He exemplifies this by stating that even He, the Son of Man, came not to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. Reflect on how you can embrace servanthood in your daily life, putting others' needs above your own.

Childlike Faith vs Self-Reliance

Wobbly Faith, Solid Rock

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 08 Sep 2024 06:00:00 -0400

In Mark 9:14-29, the story of Jesus healing a boy possessed by an unclean spirit offers a profound exploration of faith, doubt, and the power of Jesus. This passage begins with Jesus and His disciples descending from the spiritual high of the Transfiguration, only to face a desperate father seeking healing for his son. The father's plea, 'If you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us,' and his honest confession, 'I believe; help my unbelief,' highlight the raw struggle between faith and doubt. Jesus' compassionate response and His command for the spirit to leave underscore His authority and love. The lesson for the disciples, emphasizing the importance of prayer, reminds us that true power comes from a deep, prayerful dependence on God. This story encourages us to bring our imperfect, wobbly faith to Jesus, trusting in His power and compassion.

Unveiling The Hidden Messiah

Greg Dutcher — Sun, 25 Aug 2024 06:00:00 -0400

In Mark 8, Jesus reveals His identity as the Messiah in Caesarea Philippi, a place rich with pagan history, where Peter acknowledges Him as the Christ. This moment of revelation is coupled with the concept of the 'Messianic Secret,' as Jesus instructs His disciples to keep His identity hidden. He then outlines His mission of suffering, rejection, and resurrection, challenging the disciples' expectations of a conquering hero. Jesus calls for radical discipleship—self-denial and cross-bearing—as the true path to life and significance.

This event is not just a display of Christ's power but also symbolizes the journey from spiritual blindness to enlightenment. Peter's confession of Jesus as the Christ serves as a pivotal moment of clarity, mirroring the blind man's full restoration of sight.

The Letter of the Law
