We never stop learning - especially on boats!
As a circumnavigator and maritime trainer I chat to a variety of sailors - boaties - yachties... people who love anything boating.... choose whichever noun you prefer. We find out what makes people on water tick and how they do it - from personal skills, juggling other aspects of life, to making it work financially.
The achievements are big, whether they are making their cruising life a success or simply navigating their way through the troughs and peaks of everyday life.

<itunes:summary>This is PART TWO OF THREE
Jeanne Socrates talks about her set up on board, changing an injector underway and preparing for single-handing passages.
She’s been upside-down fixing autopilot and plans for all emergencies.
She asks the pertinent questions in her preparation, “When we turn upside down, what’s going to happen.”
And
“Can you take charge of your vessel if something happens to your partner?”
With manuals for everything, she’s ready for everything, but was she ready to lose her boat… her soulmate?</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>An extraordinary woman, who's achieved so much and now she has fulfilled her dream of buying a cruising boat and chasing that sunset.

Traci wears a multitude of hats, sailing photojournalist, racing sailor, tourism consultant, customer experience consultant, writer, TV producer, world traveller, and herder of cats!
But Traci also makes impetuous decisions to travel, one such decision was in her forties when she decided, on a whim, (and in her own words “foolishly") put her hand up for the Adelaide to Lincoln a Bluewater yacht race.
Learn more - and learn more about boating!</itunes:summary>

Here's a woman currently planning to take off into the sunset, singlehanded on a boat she doesn't have yet! Her grounded son has his own adventures and his own path to follow, so it is Viki that will be 'leaving home' when the time is right. That time will come when she has replaced her current boat (the gorgeous and fast Wildwood (a Young 88 - one of the few timber builds), with an ocean cruiser. And Covid has settled down sufficiently.
In the meantime Viki has grown her achievements to a list the rivals a novel, earning the nickname 'nerd' (affectionately) upon recently passing her Offshore Yachtmasters with flying colours. "It's not just about gaining experience on the boat, we learn the rules of the road in a car, we must learn them on a boat!"
She has a mindset that is envious, turning heartbreaking challenges into determination to keep going. You will love this woman! She's extraordinary and I am proud to call her my friend.
