We kick off this episode with some new stories: the spilled LaCroix trauma, a Buffalo Wild Wings phone crisis and the legendary Ohio Nachos incident. Danny then explains why Paul should never, under any circumstances, be allowed to coach in the NFL. Then our conversation takes a sharp turn into work ethic, accountability, victim mentality, and why being “busy” is not the same thing as being effective. By the end we have a powerful conversation about spiritual warfare, distraction, identity, and why sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is whisper the name of Jesus and truly put your trust in Him.

Watch the conversation unfold on YouTube: https://youtu.be/LYqZBJLqU00

Build Different Podcast | Episode 13 | Danny Woodhead & Paul Lanphier | Released 03/11/2026

Key Moments:

00:01:02 – The running joke: Paul constantly saying “I’m just joking.”
00:03:16 – The LaCroix spill incident and the parenting apology tour.
00:05:32 – The legendary Buffalo Wild Wings phone disappearance panic.
00:07:39 – Was the missing phone actually… spiritual warfare?
00:08:41 – The infamous Ohio Nachos lie resurfaces.
00:13:53 – Nebraska basketball depression and the psychology of sports fans.
00:19:24 – Why some coaches rise quickly in the NFL.
00:23:24 – The accountability crisis in sports and society.
00:26:05 – Why chasing career success can cost you your family.
00:34:41 – Spiritual warfare and the enemy’s main strategy: distraction.
00:44:44 – The power of speaking the name of Jesus when you’re under attack.

#SpiritualWarfare
#ChristianLiving
#FaithAndLife
#Distraction
#EnemyTactics
#IdentityInChrist
#ChristianPodcast
#FaithBased
#LeadershipMindset
#PersonalGrowth
#MindsetShift
#BuildDifferent

How do you handle loss and adversity? What's it like to lose the Super Bowl? Can burnout be avoided? - All this and more in E12!

In this episode we start with some crazy stories from Paul's high-school days - one of which ends with "like 20 cop cars." Danny then shares how he handled haters and hecklers while playing in college and we share our conviction that youth sports (parents - we're talking to you!) have gotten out-of-control.

Some of our best life lessons came from being on a "bad" team and handling losses. Danny talks about what it was like to lose the Super Bowl and how he personally walked through it with his family.

We then chat about raising resilient kids and how burnout is a trap you can take simple, concrete steps to avoid.

We hope you're strengthened and encouraged by spending this time with us!
Danny Woodhead and Paul Lanphier eventually get to the point about how to see with God's perspective-but before that it's chaos with the conversation bouncing between terrible weather awareness, an overconfident “Weather Boy,” near-empty gas tanks, and an unhinged (yet highly detailed) fantasy about surviving prison through gang leadership, tattoos, and coffee dates. Add in toilet horror stories, NFL hot takes, and the assertion that “grace for the next play” would absolutely get a coach fired-and you've got a great conversation.

After this conversational rollercoaster, they take a sharp, meaningful turn and dive into the Beatitudes, wrestling with how truth, grace, mercy, and justice are meant to live together in real life. They challenge believers to stop persecuting each other, see people through the Father’s eyes, and choose compassion and reconciliation—even when it’s hard.

Build Different Podcast | Episode 8 | Released 02/02/2026

Watch on YouTube:

https://youtu.be/ivKL1pmUeIY

As usual, Danny and Paul kick off the episode with randomness: skincare routines, homeschool dating stories, and cigarette science, wandering through Nebraska basketball, the Mighty Ducks' lasting legacy, and why kissing your coach is not the recommended way to break the fear of man. Along the way, they roast bandwagon fans, relive 90s sports movies, and the false theory that one unfiltered cigarette could apparently turn you into an elite athlete (do not try this). Shockingly, it all lands on a real takeaway: stop living for everyone’s approval, remember you’ve already won, and act like the son or daughter you were created to be.

Build Different Podcast | Episode 7 | Released 01/26/2026

Watch on YouTube:
https://youtu.be/s-Q11YmK3XI

They debate Christmas history like it’s a documentary and casually pitch adult sleepovers and lip injections like normal humans. But in the second half they take a turn into something weightier: starting the year with a hunger for God, the “sin of busyness,” and what it looks like to live an Acts 2 kind of life, full of the Holy Spirit, boldness, and real community. Then the chaos swerves into something real—why following Jesus was never meant to be done solo. They walk through Acts 2 and the power of church/community as guardrails that keep you from isolation, spiraling thoughts, and believing lies.
Danny roasts Paul for calling himself a “normal guy on a podcast,” his 20-month Achilles “rehab,” marathon delusions, TV-less marriage, and belief that the Spurs only won titles because of an NBA ref conspiracy. Between bad Nebraska predictions, bouncing between NFL bandwagons, and Hall-of-Fame level Paulisms, they get honest about getting absolutely rocked by life, business, anxiety, and hidden sin while trying to follow Jesus. Rooted in Exodus 14:14, this episode is all about a God who keeps rescuing two very imperfect guys—and anyone else who’s tired, disappointed, or wondering if He’ll really show up for them.

Build Different Podcast | Episode 2 | Released 12/05/2025

Watch on YouTube:
https://youtu.be/M355vmX_oSY

Former NFL running back Danny Woodhead and his business partner / former pee-wee legend Paul Lanphier launch their as-yet-unnamed podcast. Danny roasts Paul’s delusional glory days and his flag football achilles tear, among other bad decisions. In between Paul’s insane sports takes and Nebraska predictions that don’t math, they actually get real — talking about Danny’s unlikely NFL journey, retirement and anxiety, Paul’s winding path through nursing, ministry, grief, and entrepreneurship, and how Jesus met them in all of it. At its core, this show is two business guys / pastors who love Jesus, sports, and people, trying to live fully known, laugh at themselves, and maybe help one person find some hope along the way.

Build Different Podcast | Episode 1 | Released 12/05/2025

Watch on YouTube:
https://youtu.be/AdpL5zcUnJs
