“In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before, so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.” I was very much afraid, but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” The king said to me, “What is it you want?” Then I prayed to the God of heaven, and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.””

 
Nehemiah’s vision to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem teaches us that God’s dreams often require hard work and community involvement.

 Like Nehemiah, Bridge is called to a great work! 

Lessons from Nehemiah: 

1.  You will never move until your heart is moved. (Nehemiah 1:5; 2:2 NIV)

“When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.”

2.  Movements start with movement. (Nehemiah 2:4-5 NIV)

“The king said to me, “What is it you want?” Then I prayed to the God of heaven, and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.””

3.  Others move when I obediently move with God. (Nehemiah 2:17-18 NIV)

“Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work.”

God is moving. Am I willing to move with God? 

“When Esther’s words were reported to Mordecai, he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape.  Esther’s courage to act on her dream of saving her people illustrates that God places us in strategic positions for His purposes.

INTRODUCTION: We are here on purpose for God's purpose! 

Three things we learn from Esther:

1. The comfort zone is the dead zone. (Esther 4:12-13 NIV)

When Esther’s words were reported to Mordecai, he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape.

2. Inaction is action with a high cost. (Esther 4:14a NIV) 

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. 

3. God positions us for His purpose. (Esther 4:14b NIV)

And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?

CONCLUSION: Bridge we exist for 'for such a time as this!

“So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.””

Main Idea: Moses' encounter with God at the burning bush ignited a call/dream to free the Israelites, showing that God equips those He calls.

Never underestimate what God can do through one person who is fully submitted to His will. 

Embrace the Ordinary (Exodus 3:1)

Encounter the Extaordinary (Exodus 3:2-4)

Expect the Miraclous from God (Exodus 3:20-22)

Moses saw the provision of God as he moved toward the call.

Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.” His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said. Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.”

Joseph's dreams were not just visions; they were God's blueprint for his life and the lives of those around him.

The thief comes to kill, steal and destroy... (John 10:10)

Dream Thieves:

1. Jealousy of others... (Joseph's brothers were Jealous)
2. False Accusations... (Potipher's wife accused him)
3. Misplaced Hope... (Cupbearer forgot about him)
4. Elapsed Time... (22 years before the dream became destiny)

Destiny Revealed:

“But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

The Process of Transformation

If You Change Nothing, Nothing Will Change

3. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

Jesus is unchanging: (Hebrews 13:8)

Jesus who is unchanging is constantly changing us: (2 Corinthians 5:17)

As we follow Jesus we're in a constant state of transformation. Daily we are becoming more Christlike. 

Jesus transforms us through:

1. Information (The importance of God's word in the life of the believer)
2. Illumination (Holy Spirit illuminates God's word)
3. Revelation (Revealed truth)
4. Transformation (Truth sets us free because it renews our mind. It changes the way we think) 

CONCLUSION: Transformation is possible when you follow Jesus and allow him to be the Lord of your life.

“On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a human being. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’ “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’ “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’ “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’ “ ‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’ “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’ ””

 We are called the be "At The Table" with Jesus.

Two PROMISES experienced "At The Table":

There is room for you "At The Table". (Luke 14:22)

““ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.”

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood. (Eph. 6:12)

A Possessed Boy...

“A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.”

A Pitiful Father...

“Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered. “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.””

A Powerful Savior... 

When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”

When you put your hand in Jesus' hand he will life you up! (Mark 9:27)

Luke 8:38-39

“Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.”

Jesus will leave his house to go to your home! 

1. Simon's Problem:

"Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever..."

“They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.””

1. The need for healing...

“They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.

1. The first touch...

He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village.

1. The second touch...

When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”

1. The third touch...

Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

The FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD TOUCH was a set up for the FOURTH TOUCH! The fourth touch was the man going home healed and bringing the power of Jesus home! Jesus sent him home! 

Our worth is not determined by others' opinions but by how God sees us.

In a world where social media and public opinion shape our self-image, it's easy to believe the lie that our identity is defined by what others think of us. 

The Question of Identity...

• Jesus Asks: “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” — Matthew 16:13 (NIV)
• Responses from Others: “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” — Matthew 16:14 (NIV)

The Impact of Others' Opinions on Our Self-Worth:

1. Insecurity: Constantly seeking validation can lead to a fragile self-image.
2. Conformity: The pressure to meet others' expectations can distract us from our true calling.
3. Comparison: Measuring ourselves against others can diminish our unique purpose in God’s plan.

The Importance of Personal Revelation...

• Jesus' Question: “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” -Matthew 16:15 (NIV)
• God’s Revelation: “Simon Peter replied, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’” -Matthew 16:16 (NIV)
• Jesus' Affirmation: “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” -‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we get a revelation of who Jesus we discover who we are! 

Our value is not defined by our achievements, but by God's love for us.

Many of us fall into the trap of believing that our worth is tied to what we accomplish. This lie can lead to burnout, anxiety, and a distorted sense of identity.

The Truth of Our Identity:

1. Saved By Grace...

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

1. Created for Good Works...

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

Our purpose is rooted in God's plan, not merely in our productivity.

Three Traps of Defining Ourselves by Our Work:

1. Performance Trap: The constant need to achieve
2. Comparison Trap: Measuring our worth against others
3. Identity Trap: Being defined by our work

Our worth comes from being a child of God, not from our achievements! 

Our worth is defined by our relationship with God, not by our material possessions.

Every time we believe a lie, we empower the liar!

The Warning...

The Wealth of the Man...

The Wisdom of God...

1. Life is more important than wealth.
2. Wealth doesn't determine worth.
3. Worth comes from God.

When you doubt your worth, just look at the cross.

The Source of Our Freedom

The Purpose of Our Freedom

Freedom is not a license to sin but a call to live in righteousness. 

1. To live in Grace 

“You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.”

2, To Serve Others in Love                                                                                                     

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” Galatians 5:13 NIV

3. Empowerment for Righteous Living                                                                                  

 “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.        Galatians 5:16 NIV        

4. To Experience True Joy and Fulfillment 

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

We are called to stand firm in the freedom of Christ! 

Moving from Immaturity to Maturity...

Maturity has great priviledges but not without equal responsibilities. 

“Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

We preserve the truth of the gospel when we live by faith. (Gal. 2:5)

Grace is the source of becoming a New Creation in Christ. 

The Call to Grace

The true gospel is rooted in grace.

The Call not to Compromise 

“which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.”

Any alteration of the gospel is not the gospel at all.

The Call not to Tolerate Deception (Galatians 1:8-9)

“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!”

The GOSPEL is a GRACE filled message that transforms lives. 

Living boldly for Jesus is a result of Holy Spirit empowerment.

Transformation of Lives

• Scripture Reference: “Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. CONCLUSION: The result of living in the power of the Holy Spirit is a transformed life.

INTRODUCTION: To effectively follow Jesus we must receive the power of the Holy Spirit. 

The Promise Fulfilled

The Manifestation of Power

God Within Us

A Promise for All Believers

Acts 2:38-39 "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call."

Today, receive the promised Holy Spirit.

2. Surrender your stone.

Sermon: The Cleasing of the Temple

Scripture: Psalm 24:9-10; Matthew 21:12-17

“Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty— he is the King of glory.”

“Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. “It is written,” he said to them, “ ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’” The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant. “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “ ‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’ ?” And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.”

This sermon will examine Jesus cleansing the temple, driving out the money changers and those selling animals for sacrifice. It serves as a powerful demonstration of His authority and His passion for true worship.
