When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it." Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days,

SEEK FIRST - Aligning Our Priorities

Never be afraid of an unknown future when you have a known God

Dreaming of Deliverance

Exodus 3:1 (NIV)

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.

If You Change Nothing, Nothing Will Change

16. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

2 Timothy 4: 3 (NIV)
3. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

Jesus is unchanging: (Hebrews 13:8)

Jesus who is unchanging is constantly changing us: (2 Corinthians 5:17)

As we follow Jesus we're in a constant state of transformation. Daily we are becoming more Christlike.

Jesus transforms us through:

1. Information (The importance of God's word in the life of the believer)
2. Illumination (Holy Spirit illuminates God's word)
3. Revelation (Revealed truth)
4. Transformation (Truth sets us free because it renews our mind. It changes the way we think)

CONCLUSION: Transformation is possible when you follow Jesus and allow him to be the Lord of your life.

INTRODUCTION: You don't have to feel the weight to decide your gender when God has already designed it for you.

God's Design:

'So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. '

INTRODUCTION: Before we RACE to any conclusions about RACE we must look at what God says about the subject.

What is race?

Secular Definition: Race is a worldview and social classification that divides humans into groups based on their appearance and assumed ancestry, and that has been used to establish social hierarchies.

Biblical Starting Point: Race is not plural but singular.

What is racism?

Secular Definition: Racism is “systematic discrimination by a powerful individual or institution against individuals based on their perceived membership in a socially defined racial group.”

Biblical Understanding of Racism: The more biblical term for racism would be HATE!! Hate is a strong dislike or ill will toward persons or things. As an emotional expression, a person may oppose, detest, or despise contact with a thing or a person.

What is God's solution?

God Formed...(Gen. 2:7)

God Breathed... (Gen. 2:7)

God Gave... (John 3:16)

Oneness in Christ Jesus...(Gal. 3:26-29)

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Gal. 3:26-29)

CONCLUSION: In Christ we are ONE brand new creation. Jesus is the solution.

Sermon: Can a Christian Drink Alcohol?

Scripture: Proverbs 23:33-35

'Your eyes will see strange sights, and your mind will imagine confusing things. You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging. “They hit me,” you will say, “but I’m not hurt! They beat me, but I don’t feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?”'

INTRODUCTION: Should a Christian Drink Alcohol?

Dangers...

Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler;

whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

- Proverbs 20:1

'Whoever loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and olive oil will never be rich. '

-Proverbs 21:17

'Listen, my son, and be wise, and set your heart on the right path: Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags. '

-Proverbs 23:19-21

'Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. '

Boundaries...

A boundary is a limit and the purpose of setting a healthy boundary is, of course, to protect and take good care of others and yourself.

'Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.'

"Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. The Christian Witness...

CONCLUSION: Our Christian witness is formed by the word of God and our sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.
