Listen to Stories That Changed the Relationship People Have With Themselves

The Bodyway Intuition Podcast, hosted by author Eboni Banks, features grounded conversations with everyday people reflecting on the lived experiences that shaped how they learned to trust themselves. Through stories of intuition, direct spiritual experience, healing, and the intuitive Clair senses, guests share how they noticed, questioned, ignored, or eventually learned to trust the guidance available through the body.

Each conversation offers a personal perspective on the experiences that changed how someone understood themselves, the world around them, and the choices they made. Together, these stories help us better understand experiences we don't always have language for or acknowledge while encouraging listeners to recognize and reflect on their own.

New episodes are released every Wednesday.

Recognizing the deaths and rebirths happening throughout your life changes how you experience them.

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, meet Asha Nebt-Het Dawn, who shares how her own repeated experiences of transformation led her to become a death doula and transformation guide for women navigating what she calls the sacred in between death and rebirth. After struggling with depression, anxiety, burnout, and pain she didn't yet understand, Asha began following intuitive nudges that led her from yoga teacher training and living in an ashram to Bali and Kenya. Along the way, she began recognizing recurring patterns in her life, including repeated encounters with snakes during periods of change, and understanding her experiences as cycles of death, the void, and rebirth.

Asha explores what becomes possible when we can recognize these cycles while we're living them, including what she means when she says that awareness allows us to “orchestrate our renewal.” She discusses the relationship between her work and the Christianity she was raised with, why isolation served an important purpose during her own transformation, and why community became valuable as she prepared to emerge from later periods of change. The conversation also explores physical birth as a way of understanding rebirth, the dark goddess archetype, whether men experience their own cycles of death and renewal, and how the evidence of who Asha has become after each rebirth has strengthened her trust in herself, Source, and the process of change.

The experiences that are the most difficult to live through can also guide us to great wisdom.

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, meet Asha Frost, Anishinaabe Kwe On Anishinabewaki, ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, Huron-Wendat + Haudenosaunee Land. Asha is an Indigenous healer, author, mentor, and speaker who shares how illness became a gateway to her spiritual journey. As a child, Asha was called a seer by her relatives, and her ancestors visited her through dreams and visions. After being diagnosed with lupus in her late teens, her journey became one of reconnecting with her heritage as an Ojibway woman and the teachings and medicines that surround her. She shares how her intuitive gifts developed, her relationship with animal spirits and ancestors, and how working directly with people helped her recognize and strengthen her intuitive gifts.

Asha also speaks candidly about living with chronic pain and what she calls “wintering,” including why healing does not always mean making pain disappear. She explores learning to see wintering as medicine rather than something to rush through, the difficulty of discerning intuition when fear becomes intense, and the wisdom that can emerge from experiences that society often treats as evidence that something is wrong with us. Together, Eboni and Asha consider how difficult experiences can make us more of who we are, what it means to stop trying to get over or push through pain, and how what we have lived can lead us toward becoming, in Asha’s words, “the elder of yourself.”

What happens when you deny yourself the ability to see spirits, but your ability to sense them remains?

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, Kesaine, a New York-based somatic practitioner, intuitive astrologer, Reiki Master Teacher, and professional art model trained in integrative breathwork, shares how a spiritual sensitivity that began in early childhood evolved into a life guided by her own inner wisdom. Born in Jamaica, she remembers seeing deceased family members and hearing voices as young as three or four before eventually asking not to see spirits anymore. Years later, Reiki helped her better understand and develop intuitive abilities she says had always been there, including clairaudience and clairsentience, while deepening her understanding of energy and how her body communicates with her.

Kesaine reflects on why she considers using her inner compass in a world shaped by societal expectations a rebellious act, and how anxiety, expansion, physical discomfort, and other sensations provide information when making choices. Despite years of studying astrology, she allows her own experience to come first, often returning to the chart afterward to understand or confirm what she has already experienced. She also shares how years of meditation, yoga, breathwork, Reiki, and other practices have become integrated into everyday life, allowing the tools to support rather than replace her own wisdom.

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, meet Oneika Mays, a meditation teacher, author, and former Mindfulness Coach at Rikers Island Correctional Facility, as she shares the experiences that shaped her relationship with mindfulness, the body, intuition, spirituality, and love. For more than a decade, Oneika brought trauma-informed yoga and meditation into Rikers, eventually working one-on-one with people navigating incarceration while learning what it required of her to bear witness to so much pain. Her debut book, Sit With Me: A No-BS Journey to Mindfulness and Meditation, explores metta, or loving-kindness, as a practice for personal and collective liberation.

Oneika reflects on growing up spiritually curious in a largely atheist family, unusual spiritual experiences she had as a child, learning through bodywork that she was sensitive to other people's energy, and developing the discernment to recognize communication from ancestors and guides. She shares hearing her father speak to her the day after his death, a profound meditative experience connected to the Door of No Return, and how she has come to understand her physical body as both the vessel through which she experiences this life and a receptor for information beyond the physical.

The conversation also explores the intuitive download that completely changed Oneika's book after 16 rejections, why she believes safety must ultimately be cultivated within ourselves, and how her years at Rikers affected her personally. Oneika reflects on finding meditation during a period when she was deeply unhappy, eventually recognizing the ways she had used spiritual practice to avoid discomfort, and why love, mindfulness, and spirituality are not ways of escaping the realities of life but practices that can help us meet them more fully.

What happens when spiritual practice moves beyond individual healing and into the healing of a community?

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, Alicia Boyd, community and political activist, educator, writer, Reiki Master, and founder of The Movement to Protect the People (MTOPP), shares how more than 25 years of spiritual practice ultimately became inseparable from her work as an activist. Through MTOPP, Alicia has helped organize efforts to stop rezoning and development plans that threatened to displace low-and moderate-income families of color in Brooklyn's Crown Heights and Flatbush communities.

Alicia reflects on the full-circle evolution of her work. Early in her journey as a healer, she believed part of her role was helping people engaged in difficult fights and purpose-driven work clear their energy so they could remain strong. Eventually, she became the person doing that work herself. What began as healing individuals expanded into empowering communities, with Alicia using intuition to navigate unfamiliar political systems, develop strategies, uncover information, and challenge powerful institutions.

The conversation also comes full circle personally. Eboni first knew Alicia as a spiritual healer and later received her Reiki Level I attunement from her. During that attunement in a Brooklyn park, a stranger approached them and Eboni unexpectedly gave her first clairtangent reading. More than a decade later, Alicia shares what she remembers witnessing that day and why she believes the experience revealed something Eboni needed to know about herself.

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, meet Joél Simone, affectionately known as The Grave Woman. She is a sacred grief care practitioner, licensed funeral director and embalmer, and an award-winning educator and speaker who brings more than a decade of expertise to end-of-life, death, and grief care. She is the founder of The Multicultural Death & Grief Care Academy, where she helps professionals, organizations, and governmental agencies create culturally sensitive and inclusive practices that honor diverse communities. Joél's work has been featured by the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Good Housekeeping, HBO, and the Library of Congress.

Although Joél's work centers on death, this conversation is ultimately about being alive. We explore how witnessing death transformed the way she experiences life and why mortality has become one of her greatest teachers. Together, we discuss the relationship between the body and spirit after death, what it feels like to be in the presence of someone who has died, and why she compares the body to someone's empty house: the person has moved out, yet their essence can still be felt. We also explore how information is perceived through the Clair senses, channeling, and its connection to inner and outer awareness, and what it means to protect ourselves while remaining open to spiritual communication.

We also reflect on restorative art and the practice of restoring the appearance of the body after death, culturally responsive end-of-life care and conversations, ancestry, compassion, curiosity, and the ways becoming more aware of death can deepen our relationship with life, ourselves, and one another.

Our sense of smell constantly provides us with information, but how much attention are we actually paying to it?

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, Dr. Rachel Herz, a neuroscientist and leading expert on the psychological science of smell, explores how scent influences memory, emotion, attraction, food, safety, and the way we perceive the world around us. A faculty member at Brown University and author of Why You Eat What You Eat: The Science Behind Our Relationship with Food, she has spent decades studying the relationship between smell, taste, behavior, and human experience.

Rachel shares why smell can evoke visceral memories, how our personal associations influence whether we experience a scent as pleasant or unpleasant, and why the environment we're in can actually change our experience of what we're eating. She and Eboni also explore olfactory adaptation, body scent and attraction, the extraordinary amount of information humans can perceive through smell, and why Rachel encourages people to deliberately exercise their sense of smell.

The conversation expands into how perception shapes our day-to-day experience and how greater awareness of what we're smelling, seeing, tasting, touching, and hearing can reveal how much we participate in shaping the way we experience our lives. Using smell as an example, the conversation offers another way to consider the information available to us through our senses and what can change when we begin paying closer attention.

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, Sarah Lynn Thomas shares the unexpected path that led her from a successful career in finance and Bitcoin trading to co-leading Behold Retreats in Costa Rica. Along the way, she began questioning whether the life she had built was truly aligned with who she was, leading her to explore intuition, Dharma, and the deeper relationship between healing and self-awareness.

Together, we explore Sarah's understanding of Dharma and karma, how plant medicine helped her recognize patterns she couldn't previously see, and why she believes intuition begins with learning to hear ourselves again. She shares the ceremony that transformed her relationship with alcohol, the subconscious fear that shaped her life without her realizing it, and how moving from fear toward love changed the decisions she made.

We also discuss integration, conscious living, the relationship between intuition and the subconscious mind, and why true transformation isn't about plant medicine itself, but about the willingness to follow where your inner knowing leads. If you'd like to listen to another conversation about plant medicine that focuses on integration, check out Episode 12, Ayahuasca Is a Nervous System Regulated Medicine with Taheera.

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, we explore a question many people quietly struggle with: What do you do when negative influence feels stronger than positive influence? Jiulio Consiglio is a spiritual author and teacher based in Southern Ontario, Canada. He shares the personal experiences that transformed the way he understands himself and the world around him. After years of living with anxiety, depression, personal loss, and emotional suffering, he reached a point where everything he had relied on no longer provided relief. What followed was a profound spiritual awakening that completely changed the way he experienced life.

Together, we explore how Jiulio's relationship with himself evolved during that journey, the everyday practices that continue to shape his life, and how he learned to recognize when fear, old patterns, and past experiences influenced his decisions. He reflects on choosing presence over reaction, creating more positive influence in his daily life, and discovering a deeper sense of peace through the challenges he once believed would define him.

This conversation is a personal reflection on what it means to move through suffering, rediscover yourself, and experience life from a different perspective.

After years of personal healing and spiritual awakening, Tonya now supports highly sensitive individuals as they navigate transformation, life transitions, and soul remembering.

She shares painful experiences that shaped her path, including sudden loss of her first husband caused by a heart attack, the clairaudient (clear hearing) message that transformed her understanding of surrender, and an eight-year journey with chronic pain instigated by being pushed by a personal trainer that she understands as a metaphor for not listening to herself and her body. Together, we highlight different kinds of pain, grief, embodiment, self-compassion, and the ways our bodies reveal truths we may not yet be ready to acknowledge.

On this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, meet Dr. Tequilla Hill, a licensed psychotherapist, mindful wellness leader, educator, and healer whose work bridges mental health, somatic healing, expressive arts, and spiritual wisdom. With over 20 years of experience, she weaves together systemic and somatic therapeutic approaches, expressive arts, and wellbeing practices to nurture whole-person wellness.

Dr. Hill shares how growing up in New Orleans and within a family of healers shaped her understanding of intuition, spiritual gifts, and what it means to live in alignment with one's true nature. Drawing from African spiritual traditions, she discusses the concept of Ori, the inner self that guides us toward our most authentic path, and how life becomes increasingly difficult when we ignore our gifts and make decisions disconnected from who we are.

Together, we explore authenticity, performance, embodiment, suffering, intuition, clairvoyance, and the ways our bodies reveal when something in our lives is misaligned. Dr. Hill also reflects on how eczema, hair loss, and other physical symptoms mirrored periods of inauthentic living, why suffering is often the result of choices that no longer serve us, and how small daily decisions can reconnect us to ourselves.

She is also a freelance writer, editor, tarot reader, and communal care advocate.

Introduced to Santería through her father's Cuban lineage, Tamela was immersed in spiritual practices from an early age. By age four, she was creating altars, and as a teenager, she was giving spiritual readings, following in the footsteps of her paternal grandmother, who also gave readings. Tamela shares how ancestral altar practices, intuitive experiences, and spiritual traditions shaped her understanding of healing, belonging, and community. She also reflects on receiving intuitive information from a young age, discovering tarot during the pandemic, and why she believes everyone has the capacity to deepen their own spiritual practice.

We also discuss the creation of Casa de Tammy, a self-care home and community-funded retreat space for Black activists and community organizers seeking rest, healing, and renewal. A native of South Brooklyn, Chef Paul Gerard honed his craft in the intense, fast-paced kitchens of 1980s New York, where he began cooking at just 13 years old. His culinary journey led him to New Orleans, where he spent over a decade in some of the city’s most celebrated kitchens, including Restaurant August, Peristyle, Lilette, and Gautreau’s. He later led acclaimed culinary programs as Executive Chef at Soho Grand Hotel, Soho House, and China Grill Management.

On this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, chef Paul shares a deeply personal conversation about food, grief, addiction, spirituality, healing, and the intelligence of the body. What begins as a discussion about cooking with intention, food as support for grief and fear, and the relationship between taste, smell, and memory evolves into a profound exploration of trauma, recovery, meditation, and spiritual awakening.
He reflects on a life of addiction that began at age 11 and shares the pivotal moment that transformed his relationship with drugs and alcohol when, despite taking them, he could no longer get high. Paul describes the experience as evidence that there was something greater than himself, which led him more deeply into meditation, prayer, energy work, and spiritual study. We also discuss emotional sensitivity, intuition through the body, silence, grief, conversations with Radhanath Swami, mythology, India, and learning how to surrender, heal, and reconnect with both the body and the soul.
Michelle Cassandra Johnson is an author, activist, spiritual teacher and director, racial equity consultant and educator, and intuitive and shamanic healer. Her work centers on healing individual and collective trauma, returning to wholeness, and aligning the mind, body, spirit, and heart. Drawing on more than two decades as a clinical social worker, Michelle has led transformative work dismantling racism and systems of oppression while creating more accessible spaces for healing and wellness.

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, Michelle shares learning to trust the reality of her metaphysical experiences. She reflects on receiving clairaudient (clear hearing) guidance from her deceased grandmother, connecting through dreams, signs, nature, and ancestral presence, and how those experiences guided her more deeply into spiritual work and spiritual direction. Together, we explore intuition through the body, channeling, communication through crows and the natural world, collective healing, reclaiming ritual and ceremony, and the importance of stillness in a world filled with noise and disconnection. We also discuss sensitivity as a form of awareness, spirituality as disruption, and how reconnecting to ourselves may be part of the larger transformation happening collectively.

In this episode of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, you'll meet Tony LeRoy, an intuitive counselor with over 25 years of experience helping people discover their own power to create meaningful change in their lives. Drawn to the life and legacy of the popular Clairvoyant Edgar Cayce at an early age, Tony first became aware of his own psychic abilities in adolescence. His work has found its most resonant expression in what he calls "intuitive counseling," a practice that transcends the roles of life coach, therapist, or mystic.

His mission is simple: to help you access your inner strength and embrace your potential. Over his career, Tony has been prominently featured in Marie Claire, Elle Magazine, The New York Times, Goop, The Hollywood Reporter, New York Magazine, and The Huffington Post, as well as in various podcasts, including the Bruce Lee Podcast and That's Total Mom Sense. Tony shares his personal story from recognition of intuition as something that has always been with him to learning in high school that not everyone processes like him, which made him stop going to high school until his mom found out. In college, he told a professor about his experiences, and the professor recommended a book on shamanism, which helped him better understand his intuition. Presently, Tony receives information in several ways, enabling him to share healing messages with his clients.

She has worked with Solange, La La, Rosie Perez, and many others. I have also been privy to her services many times, and since our first meeting, she and I have instantly connected through our experience with the non-physical world.

Most of the conversation talks about Shanice's ongoing experience that she calls being “In the Spirit”, which is a place of all knowing (clear knowing, Claircognizance), and goes on to share her experiences with Clairvoyance (clear vision) and Clairaudience (clear hearing)—being raised in church and understanding the difference between flesh and Spirit as a child and connecting flesh to emotion as a child and embracing the flesh/brain and allowing them to mesh with the Spirit. She also talks about moving more into her flesh when trauma happened and likens flesh to being a bully to the Spirit. Shanice has an experience of not sleeping, similar to the guest Charlie River on episode 8 of the Bodyway Intuition Podcast, and references that episode. That state of being began happening for her in 2020, and she shares how she experiences and perceives life in that state of consciousness. This conversation ends with her revelation and understanding of those experiences as us as human beings being all one.

He began meditating in 2009 during his first trip to India. Since then, he has spent thousands of hours in meditation and completed two mindfulness courses. In 2021, he founded When The Village Meditates, a nonprofit committed to creating meditation, yoga, and discussion spaces, as well as wellness retreats that center on racialized and marginalized people. Fimo is also the author of three books, and last year, his first short film, La Viande, was released.

Listen to Fimo’s journey to meditation, which began with seven years of observation, before meeting a mystic in India and meditating along the Ganges River. He also shares how he grew out of Christianity as he sought more truth. How travel expanded what he thought he knew about life, and how supporting one teacher with anxiety at a school in China led him to teaching others how to meditate. He goes on to explain why he focuses on marginalized people and how meditation allows you to step back from challenges, enabling a softening of the heart and a sense of inner worthiness.
