Bluessence is an all women dream pop/space rock band in Corvallis, Oregon. Taking influence from a multitude of places -from classic pop rock and classical/jazz guitar to neo-psychedelia and grungy punk- Bluessence contains sounds from all over the genre spectrum. Setting them apart from other alternative rock bands, their foundational instrument is the piano/keys. As well as this, they have a violinist on some of their songs, introducing less conventional string instruments in rock. Apart from keys and violin, there is a guitarist, bassist, and drummer. Bluessence’ songs are emotional and soft at nature, but contain an external bite and overdrive to reel the listener in and force them to listen to the lyrics. These women will show you that being emotional is not being weak, in fact it’s very much the opposite. Facing the darkness of within, and sharing it with others, the sounds of Bluessence contain elements of dark goddesses like Lilith and Persophone, and the nature of the dark feminine rising.
