Yet often it’s not easy to measure the results of the work we do as learning and development professionals. The use of data in the classroom and in online learning can enhance the credibility of your content, adding an element of authenticity to the stories you tell to teach. In the boardroom, data can help you objectively show the value of your work to the organization, whether you are an employee, contractor, or consultant. Join us to empower yourself to demystify the world of data and measure what matters to you, your learners, and the decision-makers who employ you.

Learner Objectives:

Describe the ways in which data can help you tell stories, in the classroom or the boardroom

Discuss ways to quantify the quality, value, and impact of your work

Determine an effective way to display your data to achieve your goal

Develop context for your data display, so it tells your story, even when you’re not in the room.

ATD Competency Model - Performance Improvement, Evaluating Learning Impact.

About the Speaker

Ann Bryson-Eldridge - Performance and Accountability Manager at Department of Administration, South Carolina

ann.bryson.eldridge@gmail.com

Ann Bryson-Eldridge is an educator and professional coach who works with leaders, both identified and in-development, to help them clarify and achieve their goals. Ann believes that everyone can lead, every day. Her work with leaders across many disciplines has taught her that the key to personal and professional success is honesty and transparency, and she strives to help other leaders become more open with themselves and others about their strengths and challenges to help them succeed.

A former high school English teacher, Ann has always been passionate about learning. In state government, she has helped agencies change their cultures, developing content around customer service, leadership development, and employee engagement that challenges individuals to find connections with those who oppose them in the workplace. Her favorite part of her job is when a learner says “I did not expect this training to be that good!”.

Ann’s current role with the South Carolina Department of Administration challenges her to work as an advisor and coach to agencies across the state on strategic planning and performance development. She challenges those agencies to find ways of engaging employees, state leaders in the general assembly, and members of the public by writing strategic plans that focus on progress and the value that they provide to the people they serve in South Carolina.

Ann is a lean six sigma green belt, a certified career development facilitator trainer, and a trained professional coach.
General Meeting: Demystify Your Data: Data Can Tell Your Story

February 11, 2020 5:30 PM

United Way of Greater Houston - 50 Waugh Dr., Houston, TX 77007

Data is an essential element in the world of work.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio University and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina

Hosted by M. As training practitioners we spend a great deal of time talking about how people learn, and how to help people learn, and how to use that learning to help organizations improve. But “learning” often looks like doing, and talking with others about what we’re doing. In this session we’ll look at what to narrate as well as how and when. The bottom line? To improve workplace learning and knowledge management we need to stop saying, “Tell me what you do” and start asking, “Please show me how you did that?" This keynote, chock full of examples, will help you understand what to share, and where, and when, and how we as workplace L&D practitioners can support better knowledge sharing across our organizations and our discipline.

Keynote Speaker: Jane Bozarth has spent more than 2 decades in Learning and Development, from classroom trainer to online learning designer to eLearning Coordinator for North Carolina, USA state government. She's the author of many books, including "Social Media for Trainers", "Better than Bullet Points", and "From Analysis to Evaluation". Her abiding interest is in social and collaborative learning: the focus of her doctoral dissertation was tacit knowledge sharing in a community of practice.
